A Fortune 500 company that is a global provider of integrated communications (premedia, printing,

Facility Manufacturing Manager Eldridge, IA 2008-2011

Responsible for all aspects of manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and safety in a book printing

facility of 300+ employees with web presses, perfect binding, saddle-stitching, product

collation/assembly and “pick and pack” operations. Supervise a leadership team of 11 employees.

Profit and loss responsibility for facility with Gross Sales of $50,000,000+ annually. Exceeded

budget earnings by 45% in 2010 and improved conversion by 21.3%.

Established a strong culture of safety, evident in a 55% reduction in recordable injury rate in 2008

vs. 2007, followed by another 30% reduction in 2009.

Negotiated new four-year labor agreement in 2010.

Established accountability for operational performance, which has resulted in a 25% reduction in

variable labor cost per unit in 2009 compared to prior year, followed by another 13% reduction in

2010.

Drove a strong focus on quality. Cost of rework was reduced by 50% in 2008 vs. 2007.

of $7 million in the pressroom department of a book manufacturing facility employing approximately

1000 people. Responsible for all aspects of pressroom projects.

Supervised and provided mentoring for four pressroom Process Improvement

Directed the maintenance process including the preventative maintenance program,

scheduled equipment rebuilds, and special projects. Responsible for managing maintenance

portion of operations budget.

managing department spoilage (waste) and determining corrective and preventative action.

Responsible for continuously identifying areas for process improvement and working

with the pressroom management team and/or subject matter experts to develop and deliver

Lead a focused improvement initiative on a critical equipment start-up project. This

initiative included concentration on make-ready (changeover) reduction, waste reduction, speed

optimization, and overall workflow efficiency. My team was able to accomplish a 50% reduction

in changeover time over a five-month period from January through May of 2006.

Perdue Farms produces poultry products (chicken and turkey) for consumption through retail, foodservice

and international markets. It also has a grain and oilseed business. Perdue is privately held and family

owned. The Company employs more than 20,000 associates who work at facilities throughout the eastern

half of the U.S. and around the globe, and the 2,200 farm families who raise and care for chickens and

turkeys.
