Completed numerous facility enhancements and upgrades, boosting DRS
division's productivity and quality while lowering costs. Implemented
strategies to optimize manufacturing uptime, site safety and regulatory
compliance. Employed broad functional skills to mitigate recurring
process/delivery problems, and my transferable skills include:
? Effectively managing improvement projects and daily facility operations
? Consistently meeting or exceeding performance objectives
? Providing superior production and global customer support
? Devising workable solutions for problems across multiple functions
My commitment to professional development includes studies in facilities
enhancement, energy management, QA, customer relations and production
efficiencies, including MRP. I also completed APICS modules for inventory
control, capacity planning and JIT. Acknowledged as a strong leader and
motivator, my experience with an industry leader provides a strong
foundation for building successful organizations.
Distinctive Accomplishments
Ensured cost-effective/on-time delivery of major contract. DRS division's
$24M contract with Italian Navy needed to be fulfilled on time. Existing
broker's fees were excessive. Sourced freight airlines with lower fees, but
having no track record with DRS. Negotiated $10K reduction with current
broker to meet contract requirements.
Averted significant business continuity problem. DRS was notified of a 2-3
day intermittent power outage by PG&E. This maintenance project would
conflict with scheduled Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of products for
several global customers, delaying delivery. Secured alternate power source
to complete FAT schedule on time.
Reduced energy costs/optimized HVAC system at key plant. Employees' casual
approach to conservation at 17,000 sq. ft. facility was boosting annual
energy bill. Initiated process improvement, reducing expenses 2% per year.
Also optimized HVAC performance with solution that ensured workforce
comfort while actually lowering DRS' costs.
Established effective process for insuring security of valuable test
equipment. DRS' mobile test equipment needed 24/7 security, both because of
its $1M+ value and its importance in maintaining product quality.
Established scheduled guard service with built in contingency plan to
ensure complete coverage at field test site.
Initiated vendor control program to reduce costs/facilitate order
fulfillment. Shipping costs to DRS' global customer base were increasing
year over year. Performed detailed study of both costs and billing
accuracy. Established preferred vendor list to slash shipping costs by
thousands of dollars per year. Also cut billing errors 5%.
