Contracted for pre-construction and full construction phase services as CM-

Agent. Lead team to provide planning, estimating, and project management

services from Schematic Design phase through bidding, construction and

commissioning. Scheduled completion is October 2011. This LEED-Silver

facility includes 16,000 SF of raised floor server and burn-in space, with

redundant utilities and data infrastructure. Facility features several

design elements to meet EF-3 tornadic resistance requirements.

PRE-CONSTRUCTION

$162M, 265,000 SF four-story new lab multi-disciplinary research and

teaching facility

Sole representative with responsibilities to organize and facilitate seven

academic research departments and Cornell senior faculty, facilities

services teams, and the Vice Provost for Life Sciences to determine

specific environmental, laboratory, and operational program requirements

for life science research; communicated these requirements to Cornell

Project Management and design team consultants.

PROGRAMMING PHASE

> Assisted VP of Life Sciences and Faculty Committee in evaluating

project budget and impact of major planning and design decisions,

through the Concept, SD and DD phases.

> Toured recently completed life science research facilities at eight

peer research institutions across the US and Canada; interviewed

facility staff and obtained specific information on lab layout, lab

systems and services, support facility management issues, and unique

features for research equipment.

> Assembled resource teams within Cornell to develop plans for unique

program spaces. These teams include: faculty and facilities staff for

the Plant Growth Facility and $5M growth chambers, Plant Genetic

Transformation Facility labs, Electron Microscopy imaging for

Biomedical Engineering, and Teaching Lab/Class 10,000 clean room for

> Led assessment for specific program support services such as a

DESIGN PHASE

> Performed thorough design document review at SD, DD, and at 50% and

100% CD phases.

Construction Project Management

The Thomas Group (now Tetra Tech A & E) Ithaca, NY Construction Manager

in NY, NJ 1999-2002

As Project manager provided Construction Management services by leading a

team that worked with design teams and public school administrations to

plan, design and construct public school projects, from design through

occupancy. Examples of effective project management are: hired during

schematic design phase, worked with outside design team to determine

design, scope of work, renovation phases, and bid/award for a $65M public

school district plan to renovate seven schools; worked with District

officials, design team, to evaluate the project budget at each milestone;

Provided cost estimates, constructability and value engineering review of

documents; coordinated Division 01 front end specifications; and prepared

Construction Phasing plans for this project. On large middle school

project, hired as CM for project severely behind schedule and 80% complete,

led team of three to expedite contractors to successfully open school in

five weeks.

As Project Manager provided Construction Administration services for full-

service design firm to several NY school districts during the design,

bidding, construction, and closeout phases of public school additions and

renovations. These projects were complex and required condensed

construction schedules, constant communication with project team, and quick

responses on behalf of the design firm. Led project team meetings,

performed interim quality control and punch list inspections, reviewed and

approved payment applications, and reviewed change order proposals from the

construction team.
