Part of Engineering team responsible for the design, installation, and

startup of the 40,000 L fermentation suite.

Designed and fabricated mechanical prototypes using Solidworks and the

facility machine shop.

Designed convective heat dryer prototypes to assist process engineers on

scaling up drying process.

Reviewed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and general

arrangement drawings submitted by contractors and vendors.

Helped generate user requirement specifications for process equipment.

Conducted tests on process equipment including fermenters, pumps, heat

exchangers, temperature control units, and control/monitoring devices.

Set up statistical sampling plans; developed/revised operation manuals and

test procedures to meet user requirements and improve worker safety.

Participated in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) on process

equipment.

Collaborated with chemistry, biology, and administration personnel to

streamline production operations and improve product yields by 6X.

Worked with process engineers on the design of the clean in place system.

Contamination rate was reduced by 2X.

Worked closely with automation engineers on the design of the process

control system.

Managed and coordinated weekly meetings and activities between engineering,

sales, drafting, purchasing, and production departments. Prepared weekly

Rocket Design, UCSD (2008)

Designed, fabricated, and tested a 2-stage Hypertek hybrid rocket.

Rocket was equipped with sensors to estimate altitude, relative static

temperature, and pressure.

Analyzed retrieved experimental data after a successful launch and compared

to predicted values.
