Resume’ Overview
Job Focus
I am very interested in a job with your company because it is one of the most respected names in the
industry. You are known to have a good wage and benefits package and are a stable force in American
business, something I look for in my employer. I know that I can make an important contribution to your
company’s growth with my years of experience and knowledge. My expertise in plant automation,
instrumentation and electricity, electronics, computers and software, equipment maintenance, and
process control, plus my desire to perform, makes me a valuable employee to any company.
Qualifications for Position
I am qualified for a position with you company in automation systems, instrumentation, and electrical
maintenance. I have been a PLC Systems Integrator for over 20 years designing, installing,
programming, commissioning and servicing PLC based control systems. I have worked as an
Industrial Electrician, Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, Electronics Field Serviceman,
and as an Electrical Maintenance Person. I have also worked as a PC Systems Technician,
Microsoft Software Specialist, and as a Control Panel Builder.
Licenses and Certifications
I am a licensed Arkansas Master Electrician and hold a State of Arkansas Electrical Contractors
license, during which time I worked in industrial, commercial and residential wiring. I have owned my
own businesses as an Allen Bradley Factory Authorized PLC Systems Integrator, and as a
Wonderware HMI Systems Integrator. I am a Certified Microsoft PC Systems Builder, PC
Refurbisher, and Software Salesperson.
Major Companies Worked For (most as a contractor)
I have worked as a contractor for Georgia Pacific, Kimberley Clark, Macmillan Bloedel LTD,
Weyerhaeuser, Brown and Root, Quanex Steel, Maverick Steel, Union Pacific, Rheem, Carrier, Riceland
Foods, Producers Rice Mill, Greenline Biofuels, Glad Manufacturing, Scott Paper, and others.
Best Project
My best project was in the Forest Products industry working for MacMillan Bloedel LTD. of Canada.
MacMillan built a laminated beam plant in Colbert, GA to manufacture a new product they had just
developed called Parallam. Parallam is a wood replacement for structural steel beams. It is noteworthy
in the fact that it is made from low quality pine trees, but has a very high tensile strength.
In the process of making Parallam, four veneer clippers sheer sheets of Southern Pine into 5/8” x 8’
strands. Glue is then applied to both sides and the strand proceeds onto an oscillating, moving
conveyor. The strands then fall onto a conveyor in an interwoven pile. These stranders are located
along the run of the conveyor, each contributing to the layup of strands. A gamma gauge measures the
density of each running inch of the layup as it is being fed into a continuous moving press. Four 125KW
microwave units pump microwaves into the press to cure the glued strands.
When the layup of strands exits the press, it is a tightly compressed billet over one foot square. It is
then sanded and re sawed into commercial grade beams and headers.
The entire process is controlled by 14 networked PLC5 and PLC3 processors and 5 Advisor PC
Operator interface computers all synchronized over 3 DH\DH+ networks using bridges to speed up data
throughput. I wrote the programs for all of the PLC and Advisor equipment and setup the networks. I
also provided program documentation and AutoCAD I/O and overall architecture drawings. The job took
me 3 years to complete and was a tremendous success.
Other Skills and Aptitudes
I have a good Mechanical Aptitude and have done Mechanical Maintenance. I know Fluid
Dynamics, both hydraulic and pneumatic, and how to install, calibrate, and troubleshoot associated
equipment. I have worked with Thermo Dynamics, and equipment used to control burner systems
most of my career. I have done Carpentry, Plumbing, and HVAC. I have worked as a PC
Repairman, Network Installer, and have Instructed Microsoft Software classes. I can learn just
about anything in a short amount of time.
Best Choice for the Position
I feel I am a talented and hard working individual, with lots of experience and know how in the types of
automation that would benefit your company. I am good at teaching others what they need to know
about operating their equipment. I know that given the chance, I can make a positive difference in your
company’s profitability and will conduct myself in a professional and ethical manner. Hopefully, all will
go well for both of us and this will be the last job I will ever have.
