miRNA networks can partially explain the increased incidence and poorer
survival of lung cancer in populations of African descent. Assisted with

Researched the p53 tumor suppressor gene as an intern in the Department of
Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. Many
techniques were performed on the p53 tumor suppressing gene to determine if
the shape or the binding properties of the gene could positively effect the
formation or prevalence of cancer, possibly leading or serving as a cancer
therapeutic.

Researched HIV-1 transcription as an intern at Howard University Hospital.
Performed cell subculturing of CEM-GFP HIV marked cells and THP1 Leukemia
marked cells. Performed iron chelation dosage at various concentrations to
observe the effects of various iron chelators on HIV-1 transcription, with
hopes of possibly finding a cure for the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
