My main responsibility was the rearing of predators of the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid invasive pest species,
specifically Laricobius spp, in the Beneficial Insect Quarantine Lab by following written protocols .
Another responsibility for creating detailed records of predator releases to be used for a release database.
Some outdoor work was also involved. Required skills included: Basic computer skills, autoclave use, use
of VoIP specifically Skype, basic math, and driving State vehicles which including accurate use logging.

Virginia Cooperative Extension
My duties included: Identifying mosquito species and researching possible public health risks. Received
training in preparing and maintaining mosquito traps for the Extension and the Board of Mosquito
Control for Mathews County. Some work with the local 4-H Club was involved, including chaperoning a
weekend camp event.
