Logistic Engineering, Manager and 6 Sigma Black Belt
Implemented a 54 million dollar contract to standardize Third
Party Logistics Providers in the Mid-West. Wrote a contract to
standardize quality, organization structure, procedures and labor
wages.
Logistics manager for the Cat Large Mining trucks and tractors at
East Peoria Transmission Unit. This included shipment of parts
from the suppliers to the assembly point of use. This also
included shipment of transmissions to assembly plants stateside
and overseas.
Logistics Engineer on a 17 million dollar project to install six
transmission assembly lines. Explained design concerns and
cost-risk analysis models and presented weekly updates to the
staff and the management.
Developed a team of Supplier Development Engineers to assist
suppliers in manufacturing processes to improve delivery
performance. Worked closely with Corporate Engineers, Business
Unit Engineers and New Product Managers in developing long-term
relations with suppliers.
Served as the Project Engineer on a $1.2 million project to
install logistics software at the business unit and logistic
warehouses.
Lead a transportation feasibility project to analyze logistics
shipping routes and costs between Mid-west suppliers. Working
with Cat Logistics Services and several Logistics Transportation
companies this project consolidated routes and reduced costs by
$400K annually.
US Navy 1985 - 2004
Project Management
Organized a team of computer engineers to analyze computer
centers on Internet security matters. Hired, scheduled and
supervised subcontractors. Also developed and enforced policies,
procedures and project safety regulations.
Served as Project Manager for a $14.5 million ship repair and
overhaul. Provided project leadership, including budget control,
production timetable, status reporting, client project team
coordination and quality assurance.
Served as Project Manager for a $2.6 million computer laboratory.
Scheduled client meetings, conducted needs assessments, explained
design concerns and cost-effective options, and planned,
estimated and managed the project from start to finish. The
project was completed well ahead of the scheduled deadline.
Planning and Scheduling
As the Exercise Director for the NATO Mine Warfare Fleet in the
Mediterranean, planned, coordinated and directed several
multi-national NATO naval exercises, the largest of which
involved 18 ships and 1000 personnel with a working budget of
$4.6 million. This included setting-up logistic hubs in several
countries supporting the exercises.
Conducted advanced ship base development and planning for new
ship construction. Formulated and reviewed military construction
programs. Prepared shipboard operations and maintenance budgets.
Provided a liaison between headquarters and the shipyard.
Personnel Management
Planned, organized and managed the daily activities of the cargo
and weapons departments of 160 personnel onboard ship.
Directed and developed methods and procedures for improving
operational efficiency and manpower utilization in all tasks.
Established job standards through time studies and estimating.
Praised by the Captain for maintaining one of the top departments
on the ship.
