To Whom It May Concern,
As I was researching post-graduate opportunities, I came across the
description for the Environmental Field Professional position at Terracon.
I have my B.S. in Geology from Dickinson College and graduated on May 22,
2011. Based on my background in the earth sciences, and interest in
geology related field and lab work, I am submitting my resume for the
Environmental Field Professional position.
My interest in the geologic sciences is based in part on field work I was
able to complete at Dickinson College. I spent two weeks in southern
Iceland applying surveying and sampling techniques in the field, followed
by detailed analysis in the lab. This research taught me not only the
importance of collecting data in the field and lab, but also how to
communicate the results through both oral presentations and written
documents. I believe my experience could be directly applied to Terracon's
services because I recognize the importance of excellent field and
analytical work, as well as proper communication.
In addition to my geology major I also completed several chemistry classes,
which provided the foundation of my lab skills. This combination of both
lab and field work taught me the importance of collecting accurate and
precise data at multiple levels of analysis. I have some proficiency in
using equipment including SEM, XRF, and XRD. I have travelled to Iceland
and San Francisco for research, and I am more than comfortable travelling
when required.
I believe my educational experiences, and interest in field and analytical
work would make me a valuable addition to Terracon. I would appreciate the
opportunity to further discuss with you the Environmental Field
Professional position. You can contact me at 484-***-**** or

Sincerely,
James Haklar
