Senior Storage Administrator - Team Lead

. Migrated SAN connectivity from 10 McData to 8 Cisco MDS

switches.

. Migrated both Production & DR tape libraries from IBM 3494 to

IBM 3484.

. Designed and configured all 10 Cisco MDS's (2 Mainframe and 8

Open) with 1,600 ports (96 Mainframe and 1,504 Open) across 2

campuses with 1PB of disk and 7PB of tape.

. Upgrade firmware for both IBM TS3500's and all 10 Cisco MDS 9000

SAN switches.

. Removed TSM Virtual Volumes and utilized FCIP on the Cisco SAN

switches saving BCBSMN the need to purchase an additional $300k

worth of 3592JA tapes.

. In the process of migrating TSM from VMAX and Clariion storage

pools to DataDomain for deduplication and replication of backup

data. Seeing an 8x deduplication rate.

. Configured, upgraded and monitor EMC RecoverPoint 3.2 and 3.3

using both SANtap and the CX splitter. Issues I discovered with

the RecoverPoint design benefited BCBSMN by obtaining SRDF/A for

free. A benefit of ~$2m.

. Designed, and in the process of coverting, our FICON layer 2

traffic to FCIP for a BCBSMN cost savings of $720k per year for

an initial cost of $25k with no change to bandwidth. ROI of <15

days.

. Currently migrating from TSM 5.4.4 to TSM 5.5.4.1 (800 servers

in all).

. Provided legal council, my analysis of legal hold data on TSM,

which was previously unknown, for pending litigation.

. System uptime from March 1999 to March 2006: 99.9869%

CAP/FDA inspections.

. Wrote printer drivers (both PCL5e and ZPL) and all PostScript

. Reduced regularly scheduled monthly downtimes from 90 minutes to

7 minutes.

. Migrated system from a 3 node cluster to a stand-alone system.

. Wrote several backup routines (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and

Yearly) to automate the backup of the system and its data files

to TSM.
