Sales Accounting

My Name is Jeff Keener and I am a senior at the University of South Florida. I first knew I

wanted to be in the accounting field my freshman year of college. I was always good with numbers;

everything about them seemed to click. While sitting in the intro to financial accounting course, everyone

else seems to struggle where I could clearly see the correct answer every time it was asked of me. Not

only did I have the answer, I enjoyed the work I was doing as well. Every class went by more quickly and

then it dawned on me; I could easily do this every day. As I progressed through the accounting courses,

the difficulty increased, but so did my enthusiasm for the subject.

Currently, I do not have any experience in the accounting field aside from my education. I have

secured a part time sales job at RadioShack to help me get through my college career. This was my first

sales job and my only one in the electronics field. It may sound like a cliché, but I am a very quick

learner. In only 6 months, I became top salesman in my store; in one year, the top in the district. When I

find something that is important to me, I will always strive to better myself in that aspect. It was the first

time that I have quotas to meet in the workplace, and the job requires ethics and honesty. These are things

that are absolutely mandatory for any accountant. I believe the experience I have gained in sales will

greatly benefit me in my accounting career.

I am looking to take the first step into the accounting world, and an internship would be perfect

for me while I am finishing my last year of college. Real world experience in my field would be very

precious to me as a business professional. All areas of the job description I feel I have mastered. If you
