To Whom Ever This May Concern,
I strongly believe that I am a good fit for your company and would love the
opportunity to become a valued member of your team.
My B.A. in English along with 7 years of work experience in Administrative
Support has prepared me to be a successful Administrative/Clerical
Assistant. Once you have reviewed my qualifications, I'd love to tell you
more about my background. I am currently enrolled in Drexel University's
Teacher Certification and Master's program for Education. I aspire to
become a elementary school teacher or a member of the city's school board
so that I may contribute to the advancement of our children's future, as
well as our own. I have acquired 60+ hours of in-classroom experience in
general, inclusive, and special education classrooms at my local elementary
schools. I have taken several courses that have exposed and prepared me to
work within all of the aforementioned classrooms, as well as content-
focused environments.
I received my B.A. in English from Temple University in August 2010.
Academically, my extensive coursework in the English department at Temple
University has allowed me to gain an understanding and appreciation for the
administrative office setting. I have also studied Italian, Race Studies,
LBGT Studies, some Mathematical courses throughout my college career, in
addition to performing two Career Internships. The first of which I was an
assistant librarian at the Bustleton Avenue Public Library where I was in
charge of improving the book catalogues to ensure they met the academic
requirements for students of all ages and in accordance with current
popular book lists, as well as researching and planning a video game
tournament to assist in lowering the violence rate at the neighboring high
school. I was required to research the success rates of similar events and
discover which video games would be appropriate for these age groups while
creating the least hostile environment. As a result of the event's success
we had to incorporate a second tournament for the younger middle school
students.
The second internship was conducted at Kencrest Services where I was
responsible for enhancing the clients' grammatical and literary skills.
These were special needs individuals who required in-home care so I
traveled to them in order to assist them with reading and writing skills as
tolerated, in addition to helping to develop their grammatical
competencies, artistic interests and capabilities. Furthermore, as my
resume will illustrate I worked for some time as a clerical assistant in
Temple University's Institutional Advancement Department. All of these
experiences have strengthened my interest in becoming part of a
professional office setting where my clerical skills and degree can be
fully utilized. My salary requirement is in the 35,000-40,000+ range.
I believe that your company may have the ideal culture in which to pursue
my goal of becoming a responsible and indispensable asset while
contributing to the company's outstanding record. I firmly believe I will
be a good fit in your company's business-oriented environment. I'd be happy
to provide greater detail about my skills and experience during an
interview. Please call me at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your
time and consideration in advance.
Sincerely,
Wanda Williams
