software and other products to assist in the management and
development of these clients. Result: Managed and coordinated all
activities of this business and turned a healthy profit within two
years of start up.
. Directed the financial control operations for ticket sales ($300,000
for the two-day event) for the "Wings Over Houston, Air Show" for 10
years. Over the course of those ten years worked to continuously
improve cash controls and event accounting procedures. Developed a
financial operations manual and updated it for a new automated, secure
Internet-based ticket POS system. Result: Established a secure and
financially sound methodology for accounting for high-volume cash
receipts from multiple sources and helped the organization optimize

. Managed and coordinated the transition of all financial accounting and
reporting activities from the corporate level to the plant or project
level after a change in ownership regarding La Paloma Generating
Company. Result: Completed the transition on time and on budget.
. Directed the conversion, integration and standardization of all
financial reporting systems at the plant and parent company level to
Quick Books Enterprise and coordinated the conversion of the materials
and inventory systems to the Mainsaver materials management system.
Result: These new systems provided a systematic, efficient, reliable
and accurate system for inventory, maintenance and month end financial
reporting for individual companies and consolidated entities.
. Managed and coordinated all accounts payable, financial reporting and
consolidation activities for La Paloma Generating Company (LPGC) a
1020MW natural gas electrical generating plant in California with
revenues in excess of $150 million. Result: Created an efficient and
effective system for closing monthly and quarterly consolidated
financial statements.
. Worked with management and auditors in the development of SEC proxy
statements for the potential merger of the company.

Systems / EDP Manager
. Directed the conversion of all Houston Branch current and historical
financial and statistical data to a complex fully-integrated insurance
data processing system from a simple home-grown system. Result:
Completed this two-year project on time and on budget. The system
provided sophisticated and agile financial management tools and
dramatically reduced administrative headcount.
. Coordinated the installation of computers and a token ring network for
all Houston branch employees. Managed and coordinated local area
network which was connected to a wide area network (WAN) via a high
speed dedicated data line. The connection tied us into our online
real time insurance systems and data which were all housed and
processed on an AS/400. Result: Reduced administrative overhead by
two FTE's and provided all employees direct access to real time up-to-
date information on policies and claims.
United Republic Reinsurance Company, Houston, Texas 1988-1991
Assistant Vice President - Accounting
. Developed and implemented a system to automate monthly calculation of
retrospectively rated reinsurance treaties with hundreds of insurance
companies. The retrospective premiums were adjusted based on the loss
ratio for each specific treaty. Worked with the treaty systems
developer to come up with a download file that was dropped into excel
at closing. Rebuilt each treaty in Excel to look up the premiums,
losses and other information needed from the downloaded file for each
treaty. Result: The new approach eliminated errors, saved hundreds of
hours committed to close & re-close the treaty system.
. Developed a comprehensive investment management system to automate the
monthly record keeping for $35,000,000 in investments. Successfully
installed an investment management system which automated month and
year-end closing for both statutory and GAAP financial statements.
Result: Reduced administrative and processing time, and increased the
accuracy of financial statements related to investments and provided
all annual statement investment schedules in statutory format.
. Participated extensively in the due diligence for the sale of the
company. The reinsurance company was spun off in 1989. Result:
Worked with the management and the purchasing company to provide an
extensive package of financial, legal, contractual, statistical and
supplemental information.

. Managed all GAAP and Statutory financial and administrative reporting
and consolidations for three entities' including an insurance company,
agency and a holding company.

. Instituted a new system to track $4.5 million in investments. Result:
Eliminated significant year-end work and adjustments and provided for
more accurate profit/loss reporting during the year. The system also
provided accurate valuation of investments for both GAAP and Statutory
accounting purposes and cut the man hours involved in assembling this
information by 80%.
. Developed a plan to restore company to profitability. Devised a step
program to increase auto rates to rapidly stem losses from a new line
of business and limit agent writings to bring capital in line with
total writings. Result: Prevented excessive losses and put the
company on a course to full profitability; held the written premiums
in line with the statutory requirements; and helped it maintain a good
rating with A.M. Best, which was critical to the company's ability to
write future business.
