GREG BRUMLEY: Relevant Skills
Marketing, Advertising, P.R.
Clients look to me for strategies and implementation - comprepensive
service. Over 30 years, I've created marketing tools across the
communications spectrum (print, online, direct mail, trade show, broadcast,
telemarketing). I have a copywriter's sense of the message. I've managed
production from photo shoots to videos to print production runs. I
understand the media - and message repetitions necessary for results - and
I make efficient media purchases.
?In 2009-2011, I created and managed direct-to-consumer marketing and
promotion for small family wineries. ?From 1993 to now, I've done all
marketing and promotion for my own companies (print, media relations,
presentations, online marketing) ?From 1987 to 1993, I owned a print
advertising and public relations firm in Wichita, Kansas. Clients were in
manufacturing, medical, architecture/construction and finance ?At the
same time, I was marketing director for Cardco, Inc., a $10mm manufacturer
of computer peripherals ?Prior to that, I handled all advertising & p.r.
copywriting for a Wichita agency which served national clients such as
Cessna and Beech aircraft companies ?In 1983-86, I did political
consulting for congressional, gubernatorial and senatorial candidates in
several states (speech writing, media relations, advertising campaigns)
?Between 1972 and 1983, I was a broadcast journalist and TV anchorman in
Des Moines, Cincinnati and Wichita.
Business Development, Marketing Management
My skill is finding and acquiring customers. Cold calling, advertising
campaigns, trade shows, public relations, social media, etc., are all tools
to that end. Selling to businesses requires us to find people who
want/need our product, cause them to like us or our product, lead them to
trust us, close the sale. Nothing about the latest technology or marketing
metrics has changed that.
I entered the wine industry during its depression. No one had cash. So,
I created tools, which small wineries could afford, to bring in cash. One
winery made $50 wines, but had no reputation. I found leading financial
advisors in New York, Minneapolis, Dallas, etc., with whom to build a
mutually-beneficial relationship which would introduce us to very affluent
new customers. Another winery had no tasting room, less than 100 wine club
members, no retail presence, but beautiful mountain vineyards. I created
exclusive vineyard tours and promoted them as a unique opportunity for
upscale hospitality and wine tours. Another winery could not gain
necessary financing. It is in a peripheral county which has been unable to
attract tourists. To raise $150,000 in 18 months, I used the remoteness as
an advantage by promoting an exclusive wedding site to those who do 6-
figure weddings.
I created my current business to fill a gap in an industry.
National B2B media firms were risking huge losses when unscrupulous call
centers would falsify subscription orders. This caused the media firms to
fail audits, suffering losses of at least $100,000. I devised a solution
which guaranteed against falsifications, then expanded the service into
overall management of national/international telemarketing services.
Pardon the hubris, but I have developed a reputation as the industry
standard for service integrity and quality management.
Trade Show Management - As Director of Marketing & P.R. for Cardco, Inc.
(1987-90 Wichita, KS), I managed the company's participation in two of the
nation's largest trade shows: Comdex and the Consumer Electronics Show. I
managed exhibit creation & logistics, collateral materials production,
leads generation & conversion and media relations for product introduction
campaigns.
Business Law Research - From 1999 to 2004, I did paralegal work for two
private law practices in Wichita, Kansas. Duties included legal research
(business law, administrative law, civil law), and drafting of petitions,
briefs, and legal agreements. Strengths were in constitutional, contract,
and regulatory law.
