Trojan Explosive Plant Remediation, Spanish Fork Utah

Oversight and coordination of all field operation for a 20M project. This project involved the

excavation and transport of over 20,000 tons of explosive laded soil from multiple locations on

site to a onsite thermal treatment plant for treatment and reuse on site for backfill. Highlights

include:

Preparing plans and submittals

Preparing budgets and schedule

Managing vendors and subcontractors

Preparing monthly invoice and reports

Estimating and submitting change orders

Maywood Superfund Site, Maywood, NJ – USACE NAE SERC

Oversight and coordination of all field operations for $30M low level radioactive soil remediation

project involving excavation, soil sorting, rail car loading for off site disposal, and onsite reuse of clean

excavated material. Highlights include:

Preparing budget and schedule

Preparing monthly invoice and reports

Management of 12 union craft personnel, heavy machinery and on road waste

transportation vehicles.

Oversight and direction of specialized crew for operation and maintenance of soil

sorting/washing plant which treated over 8,000 cubic yards of material in a pilot plant

study.

Excavation and local transportation of low level radioactive material from highly

visible locations under close public scrutiny.

Logistical planning for stockpiling of excavated and processed materials under strict

radiation safety guidelines.

Oversight and direction of crews for loading low level radioactive material in to rail

cars for off site disposal.

Cooper Sawmill Site Remediation Pennsylvania DEP

Oversight and coordination of all field operations for $6M riverbank/riverbed remediation project

involving excavation, soil sorting, thermal treatment (by others), rock processing, and onsite reuse of all

excavated material. Highlights include:

Management of 15 union craft personnel and 20 pieces of heavy machinery and

specialty soil sorting/washing plant

Oversight and direction of specialized crew for installation of 1200 feet of Portadam

(temporary cofferdam) to allow riverbank/riverbed excavation

Logistical planning for stockpiling 75% of excavated volume prior to backfilling with

less than 2 acres of 10 acre site not involved in excavation or processing.

Excavation of 72,000 cubic yards of soil 36,000 cubic yards over the contract quantity.

Successful processing of 16,000 cubic yards of stone >3” to allow reuse on site as

backfill.

Work through freezing winter conditions and heavy spring rains to maintain project

schedule.

Field engineering of solutions to unanticipated river water conditions associated with

increased extent of contamination along the riverbed.

Holyoke Gas and Electric:

I was Responsible for the supervision and oversight of a 5 man non union crew for the excavation of

8,000 tons of coal tar contaminated soil. There were two individual coal tar holders measuring 70 ft W

by 20 ft D. Helped solidify and stabilize roughly 7,000 tons of the impacted soil using a portable

pugmill that injected a predetermined percentage of reagents into the soil. After excavation, oversaw

the screening operation that was done to remove all bricks and debris. The screened material was then

placed in the pugmill for treatment, while the debris was loaded and hauled offsite. My duties also

included post treatment sampling every 500CY. All soil was proven to be successfully treated and

allowed to be used to backfill the excavated areas. This was the first time the Massachusetts DEP

approved the onsite treatment of coal tar wastes as an acceptable remedial technology.

Mt. Kisco Landfill Cap – NY DEC

Oversight and coordination of all field operations for $2.5M installation of 9.5 acre landfill cap using a

crew of 5 union personal Coordinated cut and fill of over 45,000 cubic yards and 20,00 cubic yards

cover material. Installed 9.5 acres of 60 mil HDPE with underlying geotextile and a 1000 linear feet of

leachate collection system.

Wayne NJ Low Level Radioactive Soil Excavation – FUSRAP/DOT

Oversight and coordination of all field operations for $5M soil remediation project conducted under

Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). Project involved excavation and loading

of low level radioactive soil using a crew of 15 union crafts persons for transportation and off site

disposal. Also operated and maintained on site waste water treatment system.

OHM Remediation Corp./RUST Remedial (1993 1996)

Site Supervisor

I Plex Supefund Site, Woburn, MA – USEPA

$30M Remediation of No. 3 EPA Superfund Priority List Site. Coordinated with Engineering staff,

EPA, MBTA, AT&T Fiber Optic & Client Representative and Inspectors. Supervised the following

operations for non union crew of 50 + personnel and 30 pieces of heavy equipment

• Excavation and hauling of 650,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil to be screened or crushed

to a 6” minus and used to reshape the 100 acre site

• Overseeing screening and crushing plant

• Installation of culverts 24” to 84”, manholes, headwall, gabion wall, etc

• Excavated over 70,000 CY of contaminated soil from two miles of live commuter rail for

MBTA to a depth of 36” and replace with clean ballast

• Installation of ( 6 ) 12 acre cap over animal hide piles using 60 mil. HDPE liner, geotextile,

geogrid and geo composite systems

• Installation of SVE system with off gas burner

• Installation of sparging well system and treatment plant

• Installed 1300ft of slurry wall along Hall Brook.

• Relocation of 800’ of 16” water main through a wetland area

Diverted mile of river, remediated, placed liner and re vegetated the area
