Work Experience:
May 2011 to present Board of Child Care, Baltimore, MD
I provide a safe and caring environment, offer activities and services for troubled youth. I’m
also responsible to lead, teach, train and monitor these kids in developing everyday life and
coping skills. I serve children and their families who require physical, emotional, behavioral and
social support and implement individual treatment plans for each resident. Most importantly, I
encourage residents through positive reinforcement.
July 2010 to Feb 2011 Leveraged Sales and Retention with AT&T, Austin, TX and full time
student
My job with AT&T was to field calls from customers who are extremely irate with services
that they have received with AT&T. This direct customer service position is one of the hardest
jobs in the company. I handled customer complaints, solved their problems, keeping customers
from cancelling service with AT&T and then my job was to sell them additional features and
benefits associated with their services. Keeping customer’s privacy secure was of utmost
importance in this office environment. I have also excelled in my service with AT&T and led my
peers in negotiation, collections and sales. I am also recognized as a leader and often sought
after for assistance.
November 2009 to June 2010 Civic Events City of San Angelo, TX and full time student
While working with Civic Events I dealt a lot with customer service. This job includes
reading detailed plans and setting up equipment for all types of events held at a variety of city
locations. Some of the facilities within San Angelo include the River Stage, Pecan Creek
Pavilion, the Paseo, the Convention Center, Auditorium and the Coliseum. I worked with book
keeping, cash, collections, payment arrangements, ticketing, sales, sound, set-up, tear down,
cleaning and performing all manner of manager on duty requirements. This position regularly
deals with the general public, outside agencies and peers in many dynamic environments.
October 2009 unemployed and full time student
September 2008 to September 2009 Church Minister and Counselor, San Angelo, TX
I have worked as Youth/Outreach Minister with Hillcrest Baptist Church organizing, planning,
scheduling and holding events and activities with the youth and their families. Relationships
were built with the youth and their families through multiple contact opportunities. I served
under Pastor Rody Chesser who left Hillcrest Baptist Church to begin a new church plant with
Open Door Family Fellowship located in San Angelo, TX. I have extensive experience in
teaching discipleship classes and preaching from the Bible. I have exhibited excellent listening
skills while serving as a counselor for families with marital, financial and personal problems and
had effective results. Every week prisoners in Tom Green county jail received teaching,
preaching and counseling from me. I also established an outreach program with a systematic
approach to initiating contact with potential church members through door to door evangelism.
June 2007 to August 2008 Frito Lay Route Sales, San Angelo, TX
Upon returning from the Philippines, I was responsible for representing and merchandising
assigned products in retail grocery stores within a specified geographic area and developing new
business. I was accountable for specific merchandising and store shelving activities and
ensuring for proper product distribution and quality and rotated stock both in the warehouse and
at the point of sale to provide fresh products free from defect. Staying in constant
communication with supervisors of the marketplace was key to providing excellent customer
service. Handled the ordering, book keeping, collections, planning and budgeting of product and
consistently grew the route that I was assigned to. Chosen to train potential new hire candidates
with a Frito Lay “ride along program” and make recommendations for future employment. Sales
presentations were made to target audiences. Maintaining data base spread sheets and real time
data entry was essential to be a star performer.
May 2003 to May 2007 Independent Baptist Missionary and Counselor in the Philippines
I travelled around the United States raising support for my family of 6 to get to the
Philippines and then successfully made the transition. Being project and detail oriented, seeing
tasks through to completion and able to meet deadlines, as senior pastor I was able to begin a
new church plant from scratch and turn it over to a national pastor after it was established. In
doing this missionary work I had to be self-motivated and confident in making independent
decisions. I learned to speak the local dialect so as to be able to effectively communicate in their
language. I taught and counseled the Filipino National Police and local high schools classes in
moral values training to head off potential future problems. I also taught in a Bible college in the
Philippines training other students in the Word of God. Counseling Filipino’s regarding marital
issues, child rearing, substance abuse, education and health concerns were done regularly.
During our stay in the Philippines and the building of the church, I procured all items used for
the building and surrounding property as well handled all human resource aspects.
April 1998 to May 2003 Household Retail Services, Jacksonville, FL and full-time College
student
I worked full time as customer service representative while also going to college full-time and
raising a family. During my time of employment I received many accolades as employee of the
month and employee of the year I was also promoted to lead representative. Supervised,
managed & trained employees using top-quality leadership and management skills. The
minimum requirements for production and customer satisfaction were raised due to my
consistently exceeding sales quotas and maintaining the highest possible quality. I had an
uncanny ability to listen to customer’s concerns and handle problem resolution quickly and
oriented customers to products through question and answer techniques. Built strong
interpersonal skills with superior telephone techniques and was patient and effective when
working with a wide range of personalities. This position entailed inbound and outbound calls,
collections, skip trace, payments arrangements, partial payments, data entry, word processing and
windows based customer service in an office environment.
April 1997 to March 1998 National Mortgage Group Baltimore, MD
I began working with National Mortgage Group as a telemarketer and set too many
appointments making cold call interviews. I began taking appointments that I had set and
became the number one mortgage closer for the company. I eventually opened another office for
them in Pennsylvania and trained other mortgage loan officers for the company. I left them to
move to Florida to attend college.
September 1986 to March 1997 United States Marine Corps 10.5 years
I enrolled in the military after graduating from high school and participating in an ROTC
program. My military occupational specialties were in Subsistence Supply, Veterinary Food
Inspection and Recruiting. Many times I was honored with meritorious mast and letters of
recommendation from senior commanding officers. While serving in the subsistence supply
field I held fork lift licenses and supervised 1-6 employees at any given time. Ordering and
accountability all of the procurement of food items coming onto base for perishable,
nonperishable foods to include dairy, produce, frozen and dry warehousing items were primary
duties of mine. As veterinary food inspector I was the only Marine on base qualified to inspect
all manner of food items that entered the base for consumption by military personnel and their
families. Routinely I inspected the meat cutting department of the base commissary for quality
assurance and to ensure proper sanitation habits were being executed. As a recruiter developed
and maintained up to date lists of potential candidates for military service. This was
accomplished through cold calling, presentations to target market, counseling and screening of
potential applicants. Public speeches were also standard procedure.
