Your Work Style

Independent Driver

This style is characterized by a need to outlast others and persevere when

others

have given up. Independent Drivers demonstrate self-confidence and strive

to

gain a complete understanding in all endeavors. When making decisions, they

rely on intuition and keep the big picture in mind. Independent Drivers

prefer to

make decisions by themselves and not have their work depend on others.

Optimal Environments:

Independent Drivers will thrive in environments that provide opportunities

to

demonstrate success and perseverance. They also prefer working with

colleagues

who are self-sufficient and do not need a lot of hand holding.

At Work You Tend To

Compelled to extract meaning from even the most complex array of numbers or

other objective information; eschews opinions and insisting instead of

digging into the data to find the answers; insists on having the facts and

formulates conclusions based entirely on the data -- ignoring observations

or case report information; holds off coming to conclusions to making

recommendations until all the data are considered.

To him/her, fixing problems quickly is more important than finding the most

elegant solution. Impatient with talking about a fix - jumps in and starts

doing something. Believes best ideas are simple and easy to implement.

More concerned with getting results than with methods used.

Shows confidence in his/her abilities where some basis for it exists; takes

on challenges with little thought about whether he/she possesses the

requisite skills or experience; sees himself/herself as unusually capable

and highly skilled; avoids admitting vulnerabilities and aggressively

avoids taking on the role of a victim -- striving tirelessly

to find some aspect of the situation over which he/she can get mastery.

Pays attention to even the smallest detail; ensures things are done

perfectly; challenges assumptions; relatively intolerant of sloppy

thinking; detects and removes errors or imperfections; does whatever

necessary to ensure only the best quality is produced.

Strives to be of service to others, subserves own needs to those of others,

puts the priorities of others first, dedicates self to the welfare of

others; goes above and beyond the call of duty in service of some noble

purposes.

Seeks authority and position power; enjoys directing the action and

ensuring the efforts of others are properly aligned and making progress;

yields fairly readily to others willing and able to move things along to

make progress.

Many times has very useful ideas just pop into his/her mind; has a great

fondness for eloquent descriptions of solutions to sometimes complex

problems over more mundane ones; scans a set of data or a collection of

facts and finds himself/herself struck by patterns or themes regarding what

they could mean that proves correct.

Tolerates some discussion about what needs to be done before feeling a need

to do something; pushes others to hurry along so that something can get

done while showing some understanding of those wanting more clarity.

Pushes to be included and in the middle of most activities; people often

seek him/her out for the latest information about what's going on; makes

the effort to keep up-to-date with the latest going on's but not always the

one people seek as most 'in the know.'

Enjoys the occasional opportunity to persuade others from their point-of-

view; once opinions are formed, finds it somewhat challenging to change

position; seeks the occasional chance to sell some idea or product; finds

many negotiations enjoyable.
