Social catering sales manager specializing in the wedding market for the Sheraton Norfolk
Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia. The Sheraton is a 400 room full service hotel featuring
12,000 sq. feet of function space to accommodate up to 900 guests. Responsible for prospecting
multiple sources to drive sales of wedding and social functions. Took clients from initial hotel
site visits, to contracting and total event planning and successful execution with exceptional
customer service and coordination skills. Worked daily with the Delphi system.

Port Folio Weekly, Advertising Account Representative
Sold retail advertising for Port Folio Weekly, the weekly arts, entertainment and cultural
newspaper for Hampton Roads with a circulation of over 40,000. I consistently met sales goals
by selling and consulting with an established list of accounts primarily in the Ghent area of
Norfolk, VA. This account list included local merchants, restaurant owners and associations.
Larger accounts including Cox Communications, Haynes Furniture, Festevents, and NTelos
Ampitheater. Created several COOP advertising pages to bring in new advertisers on a consistent
basis.
September 2004-December 2005
Trader Online.com, RoomSaver.com division, Printer Net Account Representative
Sold Internet advertising to hotels throughout the country. Began in an inside sales capacity
making a minimum of 40 calls a day to general managers, directors of sales, and hotel owners.
Sold listings on the RoomSaver.com site, worked with hoteliers on copy and photo selection for
listings and provided performance stats every 30 days. After six months was promoted to a
Printer Net position. As Printer Net Account Representative, I worked with ten sales reps who
sold print advertising for the Traveler Discount Guide. Responsibilities included training print
sales representatives on selling the RoomSaver.com product, traveling to the west coast region
and making joint sales presentations to hoteliers in a seven state region.

The Flagship, Advertising Account Representative
Sold retail advertising for The Flagship, the official newspaper for the Navy in the Mid-Atlantic
region. Worked with a wide variety of accounts and advertising agencies throughout the
Hampton Roads area, with a strong emphasis on automotive and furniture accounts. Maintained
an established account list and worked to build new advertiser base.

Responsibilities include tracking weekly ad sales, directing conference calls and coordinating
communication of sales progress with association clients. Worked with association clients to
establish advertising rates, deadlines, marketing materials and marketing strategies to increase
sales for each association’s publication and ancillary products. Also continued to sell advertising
for Educational Leadership, ASCD’s flagship publication with a circulation of over 183,000
subscribers.

Sold magazine advertising to wide variety of national accounts. Sold advertising in various
association magazines including: Senior Living Exec (NASLIE), Community College Times and
Journal (AACC), Dermatology World (AAD), Distribution Channels (AWMA), Adjunct
Advocate, and Educational Leadership (ASCD). Made minimum of 40 telemarketing sales calls
each day to perspective advertisers. Maintained database of advertisers, ad logs for each
publication issue, revenue reports, and coordinated ad materials tracking. Prospected for new
advertisers through web research, competitive magazine analysis and attendance at annual
conventions and exhibits for associations. Brought in over one million dollars in sales for two

Head of the creative division of the Columbia Daily Tribune’s advertising department. The
Columbia Daily Tribune, a daily newspaper in Columbia, Missouri has a circulation of over
20,000. Established a department providing creative services for the Tribune’s advertising sales
representatives. Developed advertising campaigns for clients, creating advertising concepts,
designing advertising and campaigns, directing photo sessions, writing headlines and copy.
Designed section fronts and page layouts for the newspaper’s special publications, created rack
cards and rate cards. Worked closely with the Columbia Daily Tribune Advertising Director to
coordinate promotional sales tools for account executives and in-house promotions.

Achieved record-breaking sales status for small, daily newspaper in Fulton, Missouri with a
circulation of nearly 12,000. Helped retailers develop advertising strategies, set budgets and
