Design & Fabrication Project: Remote Controlled Screw Jack.

Project Description:

. This Project "Remote Controlled Screw Jack" is used to reduce human

efforts in lifting heavy weights.

. The main componemts in our project is Screw jack(hydraulic), DC geared

motor, Microcontroller(89C52), ULN(2803), Integrated circuits, Relays,

Sensors, Resisters, Capacitor, TV remote & Transformers.

. The remote controlled screw jack can be controlled in two ways,

1. Manually.

2. By using Remote.

. The manual switches are controlled using integrated circuits.

. When the up button is pressed, relay 1 gets energizised and the motor

will rotate in clockwise direction this make the lead screw to move in

UPWARD direction.

. When the down button is pressed, relay 2 gets energizised and the

motor will rotate in anti clockwise direction this make the lead screw

to move in DOWNWARD direction.

. When the buttons are pressed the signal is transmitted to

Microcontroller, it controls the Upward and Downward movements of lead

screw by controlling motor movements.

Final Year Project: Reduction of Weld Defects in Orbital Tig Welding

Machine (BHEL Trichy)

Project Description:

. The main aim of our project is to reduce weld defects in orbital tig

welding machine.

. The Tungsten inert gas shielded welding is an arc welding process that

uses a Non-Consumable tungsten electrode and an inert gas shield to

protect thee electrode, arc column & weld pool.

. The different types of Defects in orbital tig welding m/c:

1. Lack of fusion,

2. porosity & root cavity,

3. Incomplete penetration & uneven root,

4. Root depression & oxidation,

5. Excess penetration & under cuts,

6. Surface depression & mismatch.

. The suitable solution taken to control this defects are:

1. The travel speed & wire feed rate is increased.

2. The short arc length is maintained.

3. The width of edge between two tubes is maintained at constant

level.

4. The tungsten electrode is grinded periodically at the angle of

30degrees.

5. The blocks in the gas lens were cleared periodically.

. By implementing the above solutions the defects in orbital tig welding

machine is been reduced.

material feeding instead of using hopper assembly for MASTER
