Service Systems Engineer - Sr Consultant, 2005 - 2011
Member of the team that provided operational support for the Allstate
Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS). The team had nearly 200
clients. The team managed over a 2.5 billion documents (over 250
terabytes). Clients stored over 28 million new documents per month (10
terabytes per month). EDMS served clients, such as allstate.com, billing,
check reconciliation etc. as well as some external banking clients. The
team had the highest availability of any critical application in the
enterprise.
. "Keeping the lights on" - Monitor resources, resolved issues, upgrade
services.
. Performed On-boarding of new clients - gathered requirements, matched
requirements to services available; implemented, tested, deployed and
monitored client specific configurations and components, and assisted
client programmers with configuration and testing. Configuration was
accomplished by both preparing client specific XML documents and by using
TIBCO administrator console to configure the client specific components.
. Performed several large scale migrations to EDMS. In addition to on-
boarding duties, migrations usually required extensive UNIX shell
scripting (including AWK) and Oracle PL/SQL authoring to provide
migration conversion and validation
. Defined access control to the application server resources and networked
resources to prevent unauthorized access to resources and documents.
. Developed unix shell scripts and Oracle SQL to validate the migration
from the prior version of EDMS to Current. Discovered a less than 1%
error rate. Errors where corrected and acted on.
. Using Eclipes IDE, developed a Java program that monitored the Oracle
LDAP server for upcoming impersonation IDs password expirations,
preventing client outages. Current version of EDMS was built using Oracle
Universal Online Archive 10.2.2.1.2 to manage the documents and TIBCO
Business Works as an integration platform. Most of the system run on
Solaris 10. The database was RAC clustered Oracle11g. Most of the clients
accessed their documents via the EDMS web service API using their own
custom solutions. Clients with simpler needs used a web site provided -
written using C# hosted on Windows Internet Information Server.

Member of the Allstate Java Framework team
. Developed a configuration control component consisting of several java
classes. This component was used as part of the enterprise framework and
used by all custom applications that that leveraged the framework to save
time and effort.
. Implemented and managed the CruseControl build server it - supporting the
team's continuous automated built and test strategy. Result: In 1 year -
26 iterations, 4 releases, 1 minor client detected defect.
. Managed the application test servers for the team to insure the integrity
of builts and tests.
