QMED & Pumpman: Operated steam and auxiliary diesel
plant. Responsible for maintaining steam pressure
in 600 lb. Boiler, overseeing lubrication of steam
turbines and diesel engines, organizing lubrication
schedules and operational logs used by U.S. Coast
Guard. Transferred cargo and ballast. Responsible
for maintenance of hydraulic systems, piping
systems deck lighting, sound-powered phones and
inventory of Framo system. Supervised deck
personnel during cargo transfer.
