1. Data collection: - Spatial data like toposheets, Satellite images, cadastral maps and non spatial

Database like socio-economic and census data collection from respective agencies.

2. Data processing: - Which includes georeferncing of toposheets, satellite images and cadastral maps, Digitization of features like contours, drainage, Spot Height, roads etc. as per project requirement, Editing of all features, DEM and Slope map creation for surface analysis.

3. Field work:-This is carried out as per the requirement of project. In the watershed assessment study transect mapping was done. Drainage line treatment, land treatment and all water bodies constructed by implementation agencies were verified in physical verification survey along with GPS. Plot wise groundtruthing was done for landuse/landcover mapping using GPS.

4. Thematic mapping: - Various thematic maps were generated like Landuse-Landcover, Forest

Mapping, Salt-affected area mapping, Cadastral mapping, Protected Areas mapping. etc.

5. Data Analysis: - Involves the satellite Image classification and preparation of thematic

Classes of landuse and landcover. Area estimation and change detection in thematic classes

Using multi temporal satellite images for microwatershed. Google earth was used as a

Guideline.

6. Report Writing: Report writing for GIS/RS chapter for final report.

Technical details are given below which are used to process and analyze the dataset in GIS

Platform.

1. Preparation of Geodatabase:-

Creation of shapefiles in Arc Catalog using proper geometry, assigning projection and datum to shapefile adding or attaching the attributes to the layer.

2. 3D Analyst: -

Creation of DEM using Coverage (Exporting shapefile to Coverage).

Creation of Slope, Hillshed map using surface analysis tool.

Reclassification of slope map by assigning specific slope range using Reclassify tool.

3. Analysis tool:-

Use of Clip, Overlay, Buffer (Proximity) functions to extract the required features.

4. Conversion tool:-

From Raster to Vector, Shapefile to Coverage.

5. Data Management tool:-

Add X, Y co-ordinates to bring Groundtruthing GPS point on to map or satellite image. Join and relate the table Assigning and transforming the projection of raster and vector layers.

6. Layout:-

Final map preparation with inserting layers, North arrow, Scale bar, Legends and exporting layout in the final map.

1. Import the different bands of satellite image

2. Adding all bands using layer stack option to get FCC satellite image.

3. Georeferncing of toposheets, maps and satellite images using geometric correction options and mosaic them.

4. For classification of image creation of signature using signature editor and using them for supervised classification.

5. Exporting them into vector format. Overlaying grountruthing points collected by GPS for accuracy and editing the classification.

6. Calculation of the area using the formula for different classes.
