EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant
National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH, Maryland June 2012 to present
Currently working in the Lab of Genetics and Molecular biology
- Studying the patho -physiology of Methy Malonic Acid (MMA) disorder using liver directed
recombinant AAV gene delivery in model organisms
National Cancer Institute, NIH, Maryland January 2012 to May 2012
Worked at the Lab of Receptor Biology and Gene expression
- Investigated the contribution of MR-to-GR dimer interactions to gene regulation in the same
cell type by using co-immunoprecipitation and ChIP experiments.
Research project for Masters degree
June 2011 – December 2011
Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington D.C
Title :“Characterization of eNOS in Breast Cancer”
- Determined the presence of eNOS and nitrite in hormone dependent and hormone
independent breast cancer cell lines by a quantitative and nitrite assay study and using
western blot analysis.
Bioinformatics Project Intern
June 2011 – October 2011
Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington D.C
Worked on a Data Curation project
- Carried out manual curation, structural curation, and text curation of biological data (both
binding and functional assay results) of drug-target associations deposited in the public data
bases such as bindingDB and ChemBL
Research Assistant
Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR, Singapore
January 2010 – June 2010
Worked for the Undergraduate thesis project
Title : “New genes discovered in Retrograde traffic siRNA screen”
- Identified 13 new genes by a High throughput RNAi screen, possessing a transmembrane
domain and involved in the retrograde transport pathway which is misused by harmful toxins
causing harmful effects in the cell.
- Examined the specific localization of 13 new genes in the ER and Golgi by preparing
fluorescence protein tagged plasmid vectors by cloning, transform them in bacteria, isolation
of the plasmid, sequencing, lipid based transfection in the HeLa cells, Immunofluorescence
technology and fluorescence imaging.
