Chemistry Technical Specialist Core Laboratory. Duties

include implementation of new assays and training of

employees on Ortho 5600/4600 chemistry platforms and

Radiometer ABL 800 series blood gas instruments for all

three shifts. Accomplishments include implementation of

Quality Control in Cerner laboratory LIS system and Bio Rad

Unity program. Managerial duties include scheduling,

payroll, and ordering supplies for the laboratory for 65

full time employees. In addition, issues under this job are

complex in nature and deal with technical problems that

require leadership for solution without compromise to

schedule or quality. Knowledge of day- to-day operations,

quality, production and a general understanding of the lab

business is required. To insure all fractions of the lab

are satisfied both technical and non technical, a

comprehensive knowledge of general medical technology

gained over 30 years in all aspects of the lab are a must.

Special projects include a member of the career ladder

development team for the Medical Technologist. In addition

I was responsible for distribution of CAP surveys and

reviewing the data prior to submission. When the CAP

results come back, responsible for reviewing and follow-up

prior to final sign off. As the technical lead, CAP audits

were held in 2008 and 2010 successfully.

Quality Assurance Technologist, Point of Care Testing.

Duties include training and maintaining competencies of

3000+ operators on the Roche Accuchek Inform Glucose System

and all other Point of Care Testing of employees at UMMC,

Speciality Hospital, and Kernan. Monthly teaching of the

Inform at the Patient Care Tech Course, Acute Care Course

and the Shock Trauma new orientee course. Responsible for

the review of all daily and monthly reports for Point of

Care tests, including calculation of Quality Control ranges

for all assays. Performs bi-annual crosschecks and

linearity studies on all instruments. Development of

worksheets and manuals to support lab testing and lab

safety. Maintains records for multiple labs at three

hospitals. Part of inspection team to accredit other CAP

Hospital labs.
