Aajeevika Bureau, an organization working with migrant labors in the southern part of Rajasthan.
Aajeevika Bureau is an Non government organization started with the help of IDM award by World
Bank .Aajeevika Bureau an institutional response to the high fo labour migration among the poor south
Rajasthan. It seeks to provide solutions and services to help reduse hardship and render migration into a
more positive opportunity . Aajeevika Bureau has been set up the Block level centers called Shramik
Sahayata Evam Sandarbh Kendra to provide the livelihood and support services to the migrant labour
and their families. These services compresses: -
• Registration and photo identity card.
• Skill training and job placement for youths.
• Research and Study.
• Health services for migrants and their dependents
• Financial Services – credit, insurance, pensions and financial inclusion.
• Collective promotion of unorganized sector labor’s.
• Legal Aid, Education & Counseling.
• Linkage with social security and construction welfare Board.
Block Coordinator, Salumbar
Salumbar is block of Udaipur district. Salumber 3sk centre started by Basix and Aajeevika Bureau started
Single Terminal Enabled Multiple Services (STEMS) services for migrants and their dependents. STEMS
provides for convergence of diversified multiple services and products for migrants. There is great use of
novel approaches, technology and systems for migration related services. STEMS aims to carefully
introduce and test user tariffs and fees for various services using a combination of costs incurred, demand
and paying capacity. However STEMS services on offer to migrant remain broadly the same as in other
blocks run by AB.
Major Job Responsibilities-
To set-up support services for Rural Youth, migrant and unorganized sector labor of Salumber and
Sarada blocks of Udaipur and Aaspur block of Dungarpur district. This includes:
• Over all Management,Strategic planning, Implementation and Evaluation of all activity of Block
Level Centre.
• Recruiting and training a local team and partner organizations to undertake various operations related
to migrant’s services delivery
• Organize skill-Training program for Rural youth .
• Organize skill Training program for Rural Adolescence Girls.
• Liaison with corporate for job placement .
• Co-ordination with Industry partners regularly.
• Student Enrolments for 100% capacity utilization of the Centre.
• Student Placement – preparing students for interviews, counseling students if required,
training students in areas they need to improve to ensure 100% placement (Centralized
placement cell will schedule interviews)
• Monitoring faculty and student performance.
• Maintaining P & L of the Centre/ Budgeting.
• Developing the health services for migrants and their families.
• Sensitization regarding sanitation, primary and preventation health source and destination end.
• Liaison building and networking with partner organization.
• Social advocacy against the child migration. And also advocacy on disputed mater of labor.
• Advocacy and Networking with Administration.
• Development of an annual planning, targets and expansion plans for the services.
• Carried out the research to enhance the knowledge and develop the new services.
• Strategic Planner to initiate the activities in new blocks.

Projects Worked On
1. “Improving Health Services and Health Status – An Action Research Project”, Seva /
VB/MIT Research & Evaluation Unit, Vidya Bhawan Society, Udaipur
The research and evaluation unit is carrying out health and education research work in 134
villages of Rural Udaipur District. These villages are covered under 5 different Blocks – Badgaon,
Kotra, Girwa, Kherwara and Jhadol (Treatment and Control Design).
The Health project is divided in various phases – Baseline, Interventions and Endline. I have
worked with all the three phases of the project. My job responsibilities included -
Monitoring: Gathering baseline information from all the 134 villages of the five blocks mentioned
above.
The interventions included in the project are :
• Increasing dietary intake of iron through fortification of flour at village flour mills (chakki), and
• Chlorination of open well
Under the interventions I have worked in the following areas –
• Training the paraworker and chakki owner in implementing chlorination and fortification
programs
• Pilot testing the sensory test of the program
• Creating awareness about the program at community level by conducting village education
meetings
• Holding monthly review meetings with teams involved in the program (chakki owners and
paraworkers)
• Performing random checks under the chlorination and fortification programs
• Checking chlorine levels in the wells
• Checking the work of chakki owners
• Performing spot tests at chakkis and household levels
• Retraining the chakki owners and paraworkers in case of any appropriateness found in
the field.
The NFE Project is working in the field of Non Formal Education providing education to the
deprived children, aged 6 to 14 years, in the villages of Udaipur District. These NFE Centers are
run by Seva Mandir, a local NGO. The children enrolled in these NFE’s are dropouts from schools.
Under the NFE Project a camera evaluation project is running to evaluate the instructor presence in
the NFE Centers for at least 5 hours per day. My work responsibilities included:
• Performing Random Checks at the NFE centers.
• Conducting Zone Meetings to collect the camera rolls and making payments to the instructors.
• Conducting Instructor Meetings and Trainings.
• To evaluate the level of thinking of villagers, a collage project is also being conducted so as to
show what is their thinking about their children and their future.
• Conducting timely examinations for the students to ascertain their level of understanding
developed in the NFE centers.
