2003
Principal Engineer
Managed two 450 MHz licensed frequency based Fixed Network RF
(Radio Frequency) Projects from concept to production for the
Neptune Fixed Network Water Meter Market. Projects included
designing a licensed 450 MHz radio transmitter and data
collector. Researched existing related patents with the
corporate lawyer and senior engineers, indentified unique design
idea to avoid conflict with existing patents, worked with the
marketing department to draft product requirements, identified
proper resources and consultants. Project activities included
managing two outside RF consults (Japan), an Electrical
Engineering Professor from Auburn University, two electrical
engineers, two mechanical engineers, one quality engineer, one
reliability engineer, and one manufacturing engineer (total
seven team members). Worked with marketing and sales
departments to make sure product development and customer
requirements are in sync before the product is introduced into
the field. Worked with UL, CSA and FCC labs to qualify both
radio products. Worked with installation crews and engineers to
install and manage beta test units in the field.
Managed a hand held design and development project from concept
design to production. Under my management there were mechanical,
electrical, industrial, quality, reliability, manufacturing,
purchasing, marketing and customer service team members (Total
nine team members). Coordinated all efforts with marketing and
manufacturing team members to make sure that the product is
manufacturable and meet customer needs.
Identified newer technology in the market place and started two
new projects to reduce the cost of the main RF products and make
them more manufacturable. Cost reduction, DFM (Design for
Manufacturing), performance consistency, reliability are the key
goals for this project. Managed eighteen team members in the
project. Project management includes project specification,
finance, schedule (ex. Microsoft schedule, On Target) day to day
