A natural leader, I have developed my extensive organisational and planning
skills across key business and industry areas, working in the UK, Europe
and Asia. These include executive chief engineer for 5* hotels and Site
Management for major new buildings and refurbishment's over a twenty year
period, managing hotel projects across Europe, UAE and Asia and gaining
invaluable life skills whilst at sea as an Officer Engineer. I consider

WORK EXPERIENCE
From 07/09/11 working as sr. project engineer for Cogniplus interiors.
A refurbishment project at the Song Be golf resort 32 Km from HCM city.
Responsible for the site set up and daily schedule performance.
Organising the different working teams to start and finish the project as
requested by the owners on time and in the budget.
Building new changing lockers rooms, toilets, showers, gardens with ponds
and new conservatory.
Construction contract was extended to refurbish 2 more meeting rooms.
Working with a building team of masons, tillers, electricians, plumbers, a
steel construction team, painters, carpenters and decorators.
All together 62 workers.
Project finished end August 2012.
From 01/01/2009 till 31/08/2011 working as senior project engineer,
building a 5* property for a private investor at Vung Tau city. Vietnam.
Project was finished at the cost of $ 2,000,000.
Involved from design at architect office, till completion on site, key on
the door, paint dry hand over.
The villa is equipped with all features of a boutique hotel.
6 bedrooms with connecting bath room, gym, underground parking and ATS
generator room.
The top floor is designed for bar, TV and video entertainment with view of
the Vung Tau back beach.
Lift imported from Otis France with a steel frame lift shaft and special
dubble glazing with cupper decoration.
Outside garden with swimming pool with shower and sun bathing facilities.
Working with a local team of 45 construction builders.
The fit out was done by AA company under my supervision with a 32 team of
carpenters and decorators.
Project was finished August 2011 on time and in the budget.
Appointed Director of engineering at Rotana hotel in Dubai. 16/09/07 till
16/11/2008.
Five star complex with 260 rooms, 140 luxury suites, and an international
team of 45 people.
Responsible for the smooth running of all facilities, including underground
car park, plant rooms, Exhibition Centre, 400 functional guest rooms, and
numerous meeting rooms.
The hotel is equipped with 4 restaurants, 1 English pub, 1 night club and 3
fitness centres.
Outside swimming pools and luxury gardens.
Budget $2,221,000 for energy and $1,553,000 for P&L
Achievements.
The reorganisation of the engineering team from a 51 staff to a reliable
team of 45 engineers and handyman.
New shift pattern was introduced to gain more efficient guest services and
reduce guest complaints.
Water treatment for the cooling towers was reviewed and a more reliable
maintenance system was introduced followed by intensive staff training.
The daily check list performance was increased as the team relied to much
on the BMS system. Technician on shift was ordered to check all plant rooms
physically and make notes on the new checklists' with reports to be made
for the morning briefing.
From 15 December 2004 till 14/09/07 appointed as Chief Engineer for Sofitel
Plaza Saigon HCMC. 17 Le Duan Blvd. District 1 .
Responsible for the daily maintenance, PPM, capex expenditure, health and
safety, internal and external maintenance of the building, kitchens
restaurants and plant rooms.
Working with a team of mechanics, electricians, carpenters, masons,
painters and storekeeper all together 27 workers.
Responsible for the smooth running of all facilities, including car park,
plant rooms, Exhibition Centre, 270 functional guest rooms,
numerous meeting rooms.
A yearly budget P&L of $ 1,020,000.
Achievements.
Re-organisation of the Maintenance department from a disorganised team to
an effective, efficient and hard working team of 27 technicians and
handymen. The introduction of a sound shift pattern, improved wages and
recognition of personal developments from various team members made this
achievement possible.
. Building a new French restaurant Olivier on the first floor to increase
revenue for the FB department.
. The building of an exclusive Sofitel club on the 16th floor for our
special guest services.
. The building of an exclusive meeting room adjacent to the Sofitel club
room.
. I calculated the high energy consumption bill was due to the old
chillers. Replacing the chillers with screw Trane chillers could save a
huge amount of energy and money. The pay back time was only 3 years.
. The owner refused to do the investment.
From 10 january 2004 till 10 december 2004 working for a Belgian Building
and engineering co. as senior project manager. Based in Birmingham building
of a 250 bedroom hotel . After this project I started to work for a 5*
hotel again.
November 1999- November 2003 Director of Facilities Novotel
London West-UK
Responsibilities
1. In charge of a 20-man department in this 630-bedroom hotel in the heart
of one of London's major business districts.
2. Responsible for a yearly 1.2million Maintenance P&L budget and a
1.1million Capital Expenditure budget.
3. Responsible for the smooth running of all facilities, including
underground car park, 27 plant rooms, 5000m2 Exhibition Centre, 630
functional guest rooms, numerous meeting rooms and, more recently, the re-
structuring of the Security Department.
Achievements
4. Re-organisation of the Maintenance department from a disorganised team
of 26 men to an effective, efficient and hard working team of 20
technicians and handymen. The introduction of a sound shift pattern,
improved wages and recognition of personal developments from various team
members made this achievement possible.
5. Re-organisation of the Car Park services to patrons, with a resulting
increase in revenue of 45% ( 44,000.00 per month).
6. A re-organisation of the waste management controls resulted in annual
savings of between 14,000- 18,000.
7. Sold vacant roof space to BT Cellnet and One2One. This deal increased
annual hotel revenue by a further 32,000.
8. The cancelling and re-negotiation of contracts resulted in a savings in
expenses of 52,000 in my first year.
9. I was actively involved in a major refurbishment project in the hotel,
with a budget of 20million. This was successfully completed in August
2001.

Responsibilities
10. Responsible for all facilities throughout this 5-Star luxury hotel,
including the maintenance team, security of the property and various
refurbishment projects.
Achievements
11. Re-organisation of the entire maintenance structure, including an
update of all technical installations and building completely new
guestrooms and meeting rooms.
