|Project Abstract: |
|RISC (pronounced risk) is a CPU design strategy based on the insight that |
|simplified Instructions can provide higher performance if this simplicity enables |
|much faster execution of each instruction. A 32-bit RISC processor is designed in |
|this project. A maximum frequency of operation of 50 MHz is obtained. Pipelining |
|is used by virtually all modern microprocessors to enhance performance by |
|overlapping the execution of instructions. The processor is designed in VHDL and |
|synthesized on to Xilinx Spartan-3E FPGA Kit. |
