To Whom It May Concern:
Attached is my resume for the position of a Home Health Nurse Per Diem . I am a Hmong
American female who is the first person in my family to complete college education. I am very
compassionate and work well with people of all racial background and is well like by people
whom I have had worked for in past years. If it is given the opportunity, I have the capability of
becoming a nursing leader. Most of my adult life I have had involved with the health care
profession in several ways. I first learned to take care of patient when my husband went to
school at the University of Washington, Seattle in 1990. While he was studying there, I decided
to study and become a Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA). Once completed, I worked at two
sepRN Clinical Coordinator - Ambulatory Observatarate convalescence homes for over a year.
After he finished with his study, we moved to Fresno, California, where he got a teaching job at
Fresno State. There, I decided to further my education in nursing to become a Licensed
Vocational Nurse (LVN). After finished with the LVN program, I was hired by the University
Medical Center in Fresno to work in the intensive care unit for over two years before our family
moved to Sacramento. After arriving in Sacramento my first and still the only job is with the
University Medical Center as a Senior LVN (Sr. LVN).
From 2000 to now, my Sr. LVN title with the Medical Center has been a great learning curve.
Due to budgetary issue and LVN positions being eliminated from the Medical Center, I have
been experiencing migratory position within the university medical center in various capacities. I
was first hired to work at the CAARE Center. While being with the CAARE Center, I also was
hired as need base position at the Glass Rock clinic. After the CAARE Center was closed in
2009, I was rehired to UC Davis’ Acute Psychiatric County Jail Unit. And this is where I remain
as an active UC Davis employee to date. In addition to this full-time job with the county jail, I
have been working on part-time basis with Healthy Living at Home, a skilled nursing facility that
evaluates, admits and discharge patients who are discharge from hospital but remains under a
physician’s care while recovering in the comfort of their own home.
Although, after completed my study at the University of Phoenix and successfully passed the
nursing board exam on the first attempt, three months after graduation, I still could not find a
full-time RN/BSN position, as a result, my ultimate goal is to find a permanent position, perhaps
at the supervisory level. Even though, I still working at the county jail as a Sr. LVN, I am
essentially serving as the nursing supervisor on the evening shift. My supervisor, the
psychiatrist, other nursing staff, and the sheriff are impressed with my nursing skills, personal
attributes, and knowledge. Part of my supervisory ability started over ten years ago when I
worked for the CAARE Center at UC Davis, Medical Center, a child abuse and neglect forensic
center. I was promoted to supervisor position until the center was closed in 2009 due to
budgetary issue.
In summary, I want to let you know that I am a person of ethical, reliable, trust worthy, and
committed to the nursing profession. People that have had opportunity to work alongside with
me will describe that I am a hard working person.
Thank you for your consideration. If you need any further information or have additional
questions, please contact me either via my cell phone, email or to my husband’s work email
address as listed on my resume.
Sincerely yours,
Kia Lee
