I joined Group Alucaps SA de CV ("Alucaps" or "the Group") in 2001 after
obtaining my university degree as a Mechanical engineer and in Energetic
Systems from La Salle University in Mexico with the thesis: "The hybrid
vehicle as a proposal for urban transportation". After working 11 years
for Alucaps in Cuernavaca Mexico, holding various positions as described
below, I am looking to reallocate to Canada because i believe that can find
the correct balance between the work life and the family environment,
providing me and my family with a better life experience.
Summary of work experience:
Alucaps is a Mexican family owned business located in Cuernavaca Mexico
with 5 factories, 3 located in Mexico, 1 in Guatemala and 1 in Venezuela,
revenues of approximately Cdn$116.7 million and 950 employees. Its
business consists of caps manufacturing for a variety of businesses in
Mexico and Central America, primarily in the food and beverages industry.
I hold the position of research and development manager since February 2012
up to date reporting directly to the principal and president of the Group.
My duties are as follows:
. Development of new business opportunities outside of the food and
drinks division using installed infrastructure of the group.
. Development of new materials to meet new standards required by the
various regulatory bodies of the food industry (Food Drugs
Administration - US agency, EFSA European food safety Authority.
. Development of new packing systems looking for market recognition.
. Determination of physical and chemical proprieties of the materials to
determinate the better characteristics of the products finding
advantage with the production.
. Sub product development.
From 2005 to 2011 I held the position of the post-sales manager and the
manager in charge of the vision recognition system with the main
responsibilities of providing technical support to the 5 factories of the
group and technical support to the various clients Alucaps sells product to
including the following: in Mexico: Jugos del Valle, Herdez Gruop, Coca-
Cola, L cteos del Norte Vermex y Rioxal and Gerber among others and
Postobon in Colombia. My main duties were as follows:
. Organize, in conjunction with the sales department, the client care
visit program of the group to provide input to the production process
with respect to the performance of our products in the market.
. Deal with client dissatisfaction, providing monthly reporting of the
issues noted and follow up actions.
. Establishment of policies to follow within the department through
meetings.
. Monthly reporting to General Manager and President with respect to
quality and client service indicators.
From 2001 to 2005 I held the position of engineer supervisor of the metals
enclosures division of the Group reporting to the general manager in
charge. My duties consisted of
. Development of improvement projects for the production process from
planning activities, lay out, search of suppliers and supervising the
construction of the plant.
. Improve production capacity through continues improvements in the
production lines.
. Design and management of visual inspection computer systems,
responsible for the operation and maintenance of 34 visual inspection
systems and statistical control stations with 15 individuals under my
supervision (3 engineers and 12 technicians)
. Implementation of quality systems based on norm ISO 9001: 2000.
Certified ISO 9000 quality auditor (certification no. Xxxxx) leader
internal auditor.
. Client service and technical support.
Summary of professional achievements while working at Alucaps
1. Research, design and development of a production line to manufacture
battery shells for sizes AAA, B and C with 6 color stamping, improving
our steel production in over 500 tons per year.
2. Development of an aluminium cap for drinkable serum (Improving
production in 2.5 million caps per year).
3. Development of Masters Bach (pigments for plastic caps) in compliance
with FDA requirements to achieve a 15% cost reduction of beverage and
soft drinks products
4. Development of packing materials to improve seal resistance to reach
the high carbonated market and comply with the highest mineral water
standards.
5. Scrap reduction plans in 14 production lines starting with 2.5% and
ending with 1.2%. The economic impact of this reduction amounted to
approximately $17,000 CND dls per month.
6. Implementation of 6 automatic inspections modules to reduce manual
labor with a return investment of approximatelly16 months.
7. Redesign of product specifications to save 7% of reduction cost.
8. Development of a statistical dimensional analysis system to reduce
manual labor during quality inspections with a return of investment of
approximately 15 months.
9. Development of laser printer to make internal and personalised code to
tracking beverages with a return investment of 24 months.
10. Rebuild lines to manufactured new products with a return of investment
of 24 months.
11. Redesign of product specs to extend the tooling, molding and dies
life in 28% with benefits 0f $6000 CDN dls. per month.
