SPECIAL TRAINING
Automotive Parts Sales:
In the Automotive Parts Sales class, I worked under realistic conditions with vendors and customers. I learned to work
under pressure and to meet deadlines. I received actual experience in solving the problems that are encountered in a busy
shop situation. I received training on a Triad- Prizm computer system using the customer account system with work orders.
I learned point-of-sale invoicing, accounting procedures and terminology, and techniques for dealing with customers. I
gained experience in using manual and electronic catalog systems. I also learned parts ordering and pick-up and delivery
of parts
Brake Repair:
In the Brake Repair course, I was taught the proper terminology and diagnostic procedures of brakes and related
mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, antilock brake systems and computer controlled sensors and circuits utilizing
computerized and mechanical brake lathes, ABS brake tester, power bleeders and general auto hoists and lifting devices.
Course was approximately 80% hands-on and 20% theoretical.
Suspension and Alignment:
The Suspension and Alignment course focuses on two major areas. Suspension - I was taught the principles and designs
of various automotive suspension systems: coil, leaf, air spring and torsion bars, air and electronic leveling and height
control components and sensors. Alignment and Steering Systems: I learned wheel alignment angles including camber,
caster, steering axis inclination, turning radius and toe settings with an understanding of the importance of all angles plus
rear wheel alignment and know the difference between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive alignment procedures.
Included in the training was diagnosis and repair of manual and power steering gears, power steering pumps, and step-by-
step procedures of diagnosing tire wear and drivability problems.
