I have been in the occupation of cardiac ultrasound for 35 years. Twenty-four
years of cardiovascular testing with adults and eleven years in pediatrics. Prior to my
employment for Virginia Beach Schools and returning to school, I was employed with
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for 4.5 years. I was also employed as a federal
employee from 2003 to May of 2007 working at Hampton’s Veterans Health
Administration for 3 years. I transferred to the Portsmouth’s Naval Medical Center as a
GS-9 echo technician. I have also been an instructor in the field of cardiovascular
technology as a clinical education coordinator and staff instructor with Cuyahoga
Community College in Parma, Ohio for 1.5 years. For two years I was employed as an
echo technician with the world renowned heart center, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

QUALIFICATIONS
I am in school to teach adult English Language Learners, I am in my senior year
and still taking classes for my major. This is my second career and I have been on the
Deans’ list for a year. My 35 years of cardiovascular experience includes setting up an
echo/stress, echo lab which included developing protocols, worksheets, and computer-
generated reports. I performed transthoracic echoes, dobutamine stress/echoes and
regular stress echoes. I have 10 years’ experience in pediatric echoes and 24 years in
adult echocardiography. I work well with both patient and physician. I have been
working in a digital laboratory that used the IE33 and Phillips Xcelera digital lab at
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and Prosolve digital system at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation. My experience with the latest equipment far surpasses most facilities due to
the Cleveland Clinic’s reputation for being a testing facility for all of the state-of-the-art
ultrasound equipment.
