environment losses.
Work Experience
K O Products – Benton Harbor, MI
Tool and Die Maker (2008 to Present): Schedule all tooling maintenance activity in
and out of the tool room to support shop floor metal stamping press operations. Providing
help and guidance to shop floor press set up operations personnel. Develop all tool change
over documents using Microsoft Office software applications. Develop plans for tooling
improvements working with engineering and plant manager.
Selected Contributions:
Have significantly improved tooling performance of many customer owned tools since starting
work at K O Products eliminating losses due to scrap generation and reject, rework issues.
These figures have been lowered by 75% since 2008.
Design and built new tooling and machines used in the manufacturing processes using AutoCAD
Mechanical Desktop 3D software application.
Was actively involved in the plant 6S and TPM project to develop the system of daily, weekly,
monthly, quarterly, and yearly maintenance tracking for shop machinery. Developed the
documentation using Microsoft Word 2010 to create the table charts and diagrams needed as
visual aids for the TPM implementation.
Management Solutions Consulting – Benton Harbor, MI
Owner and President (2005 to December 2007): Worked inside of Robert Bosch Corporation
St. Joseph, MI disk brake assembly plant as an outside contract consultant Manufacturing
Engineer performing root cause analysis of assembly line processes to determine causes of
downtime, rework generation, and reject part assemblies during manufacturing operations.
Selected Contributions:
Identified root cause of pin insertion station binding when placing pins in anchor brackets and
resolved issue eliminating station resets that were contributing 48 minutes to line downtime daily
during manufacturing operation. This one improvement added $5900.00 in profitability to the line
daily.
Improvements on the 4868 line alone dropped daily downtime from an average of 167 minutes
per day to only 15 minutes per day. This line had never ran better than 60% efficient in the twelve
years it had been running prior to October 2007 when it ran 86% OEE for the first time because
of improvements made. Through working closely with the assembly line operators I was able to
investigate specific root cause issues that lead to the improvements increasing the overall line
OEE.
Worked closely with maintenance schedulers and personnel, tool room manager and die makers
after determining root cause of assembly line operation loss to schedule work activities to
resolve downtime issues and implement improvements to processes.
Started and completed 467 separate improvement projects related to specific identified root
causes for various issues affecting assembly line operation losses over a two and a half year
period while working inside Bosch as an outside contracted consultant.
Shepherd Casters Corporation – St. Joseph, MI
Tool and Die Maker (2001 to 2005): Worked as a tool maker performing maintenance to metal
stamping dies supporting the daily stamping operations of the plant. Also performed
troubleshooting activity and root cause analysis of automated assembly equipment used to
produce casters in the manufacturing processes.
Selected Contributions:
Re engineered nest tooling for the brake lever assembly operation to locate caster bodies more
consistently and eliminate the misalignment of parts during pin press placement causing reject
parts. The re engineering of the fixture eliminated 90% of the reject parts being generated by the
assembly operation.
Changed the assembly process that originally used three different dies to produce a single
finished part so all three operations were performed in one single tool with a finished part coming
from a single die set up shortening the production time for finished parts by 6 days per 5000
piece order.
Worked with outside tool sources to fulfill RFQ’s for needed tool work not able to be done in the
plant tool room facilities.
Modern Plastics Corporation – Benton Harbor, MI
Tool and Die Maker (1994 to 2001): Worked on customer owned molds used in the daily
injection molding and compression molding operations of Modern Plastics. Also machined and
built new tooling and fixtures per engineering drawings for new products introduced to the
manufacturing plant or upgrades to existing manufacturing processes.
