TECHNICAL WRITER - US NAVY NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS

From January 2006 to August, 2010, I was a Technical Writer involved with

Field Changes to the AN/WSN-7 and AN/WSN-7A Ring Laser Gyro Navigator

(RLGN) inertial navigation system, as well as the AN/WSN-7B Ring Laser Gyro

(RLG) that is installed on all US Navy ships and submarines as well as

various foreign navies. I have also written the procedures for the

maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the AN/SRC-40 installed on US

Navy Aircraft Carriers (CVNs) as well as performing ship checks for

maintaining the Ship Navigation & Aircraft Inertial Alignment System

(SNAIS) installed on US Navy CVNs and Amphibious Assault Ships (LHDs). I

have been a Team Leader on numerous occasions, leading a team of Graphic

Artists and Word Processors for Revisions to the above manuals.

Additionally, I created a manual for a locomotive monitoring system used on

Acela locomotives by Amtrak.

TECHNICAL WRITER - SSN688 CLASS SUBMARINE SHIP ALTERATIONS AND UPGRADES

From April 1998 to December 2005, I was a Technical Writer, involved with

Ship Alterations and upgrades that integrated new technologies and

equipment on the SSN688 and SSN21 Class fast attack submarine fleets. This

included writing the Operational Procedures (OPs) and Instructions, used by

sailors on SSN688 and SSN21 Class submarines, using SGML and Adobe Acrobat,

as well as MS Office. These OPs were for electronic navigation equipment

and Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems, as well as various other

submarine systems that included fire control, sonar, and communications. I

was the system expert on all electronic navigation and ESM equipment for

the SSN688 Class submarine fleet for the ship service manual (SSM) group at

AMSEC LLC.

From April 1997 to December 1997, I held the position of Electronics

Technician. I performed troubleshooting, repair, and testing on Inmarsat C

and M Satellite transceivers. This included upgrading systems to keep up

with constant advances in Inmarsat technology; I researched and created a

technical manual on all Thrane & Thrane Inmarsat-C transceivers; I

performed some sales and product technical support with our customers. I

Lead and tasked with managing the budget and work schedule of all

navigation and ESM special projects, as well as both interior and exterior

submarine fleet. I supervised a team of Technical Writers, with anywhere

from two to five members assigned, and Graphic Artists. Additionally:

. I was the Security Manager for the SSN688 Group at AMSEC LLC.

. I troubleshot and repaired mission critical pieces of electronic

equipment which included VHF and UHF receivers, inertial navigation

systems, and GPS.

. I directly supervised the training of junior personnel in the

operation and maintenance of electronic navigation equipment, ESM

equipment, as well as submarine design and operation.

. I was the Secret Material Control Petty Officer on board the USS Baton

Rouge (SSN689). I was responsible for maintaining and controlling all

intelligence documents, publications, as well as all Operations

department classified documents.

. I acquired and organized the use and distribution of ready repair

parts.

. I am qualified on all three flights of the SSN688 Class fast attack

submarine.

SPECIAL SKILLS

I have extensive knowledge and hands on experience with EPIC document

editor, Adobe Acrobat Professional, as well as the SGML and XML language in

the creation of technical manuals, SSMs, and OPs.

I am trained and experienced in the operation, repair, and maintenance of a

variety of satellite navigation equipment, as well as search radar, radar

monitoring equipment, and L-Band satellite communications transceivers.

I have extensive knowledge and hands on experience with all versions of

Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office.
