SUMMARY
A highly enthusiastic Industrial engineer with a strong desire to contribute to the company’s growth & success
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Received the $4000 Texas Wind Energy Institute Graduate Certificate Course Professional Scholarship in
Spring 2011
Recipient of the $600 White Trust annual scholarship for the year 2010-2011
WORK EXPERIENCE
Summer Internship at Grundfos, Chennai, India June-Aug 2010
Used LINDO’S “WHATS BEST” software and came up with an optimization tool for production planning
which reduced the backlog of production orders by 60%.
Used Rockwell Arena simulation software. Simulated the conveyor assembly line and identified the bottle
necks. Eliminated the bottleneck work station and re-distributed the tasks equally between the remaining
workstations.
Simulated the new model using Arena simulation software, and found that the buildup of inventory could be
reduced by 80%. The simulation also revealed the conveyor assembly line to be line balanced.
Developed an optimization model for effectively storing packing boxes which reduced the total amount of
wasted storage space between the boxes by 50%.
Spring Internship Basic Training Centre, Loco Works, Chennai, India Jan-May 2009
• Modified the traction motor cooling system that was being used to cool the electric locomotives by
introducing new components to the existing system.
• Calculated and found the redesigned cooling system to be 25% more efficient which resulted in a cost saving
of $2000 per locomotive.
SOFTWARE SKILLS
Rockwell Arena, Oracle Crystal Ball, Lindo’s What’s Best Optimization Solver, Premium Solver, Auto Cad, Pro E
CATIA, FE Map, Ansys, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office 2007
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Project on Wind Turbine Failures
• Made use of tools like Failure Mode Effect Analysis (F.M.E.A) to identify the different ways in which wind
turbines fail and analyzed the effects or consequences of the failures on the performance of the turbines.
• Prioritized the failures by computing the risk priority number for each failure.
• Came up with suggestions/solutions to overcome those failures that were identified.
Design of Cell Phone Panel
• Designed a cell phone panel by employing techniques like Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for
Assembly (DFA).
• Simultaneously designed the product & process by applying techniques like concurrent engineering.
• Determined the most appropriate manufacturing method (injection molding) and material (Acrylonitirile –
butadiene – styrene) for producing the panels on a large scale taking into account the surface finish required,
profitability, aesthetics and process capability.
Strategic Design of a Firm (Texas Sporks) and its Products/Services
• Developed the core competencies of the firm.
• Designed the product, process, supply chain and the quality system.
• Selected the most appropriate production location for Texas Sporks using techniques such as optimization and
weighted average.
• Estimated the resources required for start up using “MS PROJECT”
