Engineering Projects within St. Louis NPD (New Product Development)

group. Managed Projects from Conception through Completion.

Supervised Designers and Lab Technicians in carrying out the designs

Reported to the General Manager. Responsible for managing Engineering

Department with emphasis on new product development. Managed regulatory

agencies including UL Safety, Sanitation, mls Listings, NSF International

and ETL for compliance and approval. Led new product development

initiatives utilizing Solid Works. Responsible for Energy Star testing,

data, and implementation.

. Collaborated with sister companies in the ITW Food Equipment Group in

- Designed new custom Warming Cabinet for Vulcan Convection Ovens.

- Designed Low Cost Forced Air Warming Cabinets for Vulcan to break

Project Engineer

product development, turning their ideas into new equipment and

merchandising solutions and designs. Performed field troubleshooting

as one of the company's larger chains in California had combination

hot/cold equipment problems that their Service Technicians could not

fix. Analysis led to a vendor re-design.

. Redesigned line of open refrigerated merchandisers to reduce

manufacturing costs and lead time.

. Designed merchandising solutions for a bakery display, which yielded

20% more product display area for specialty products with a smaller

footprint.

. Designed shelving unit for a Convenience Store Chain to triple product

display to existing kiosk.

FEDERAL INDUSTRIES - Belleville, Wisconsin

2002 to 2006

Project Engineer

Reported to the Engineering Manager. Responsible for new product

development utilizing AutoCAD Release 14 and Solid Edge Release 17. New

product development and testing. Created and maintained Bills of

Materials.

. Effectively managed a product line accounting for 35% to 40% of annual

sales.

. Worked with Lean Manufacturing principles to streamline manufacturing,

reduce inventory and reduce lead times by up to 60%.

. Designed new line of straight and curved glass deli cases ranging from

4', 6', 8' and 10' in length from concept, prototyping, testing and

into production.

- Realized $160 savings per unit by designing a custom thermoformed

tub in place of a metal tub and brackets.

- The self-contained units included a hot gas loop for condensate

evaporation.

- Design also included refrigerated drawers without additional

evaporators.

2000 to 2002

Design Engineer

Reported to the Director/VP of New Product Development. Responsible for

customer driven new product development, taking a customer's idea and

designing a prototype to fit their needs.

. Collaborated with one of the 7 divisions to get prototypes made from my

designs.

- Worked with the model shops and designers to assemble prototypes and

test to the customer's specifications.

- Presented the prototype to the customer and worked through rigorous

test procedures with products to achieve desired results.

. Lead member of the design team for a high speed convection/microwaves

oven for a major fast food chain with a potential of $75 Million in

sales.

- Traveled internationally working with major fast food chains in

developing their specific products in the high speed oven.

- Developed strong affiliation with IMPI (International Microwave

Power Institute) and its affiliates working with the staff using

microwave modeling at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

. Designed and managed a tabletop double clamshell Griddle project for

Taco Bell, working with our Nevada business unit, supervising

construction and initial production from design.

. Designed and managed a "cold proofing" cabinet for Donatos Pizza

working with 2 of our business units, pulling together their core

competencies for the design.

. Extensive testing and travel to customer's sites in US, Canada, and UK.

ALTO-SHAAM, INC - Menominee Falls, Wisconsin

1992 to 1999

Design Engineer

Reported to the Engineering Manager. Responsible for new product design

using AutoCAD, supervising the construction of prototypes in the model shop

and managing projects from design to production.

. Designed hot and cold merchandiser in one unit, realizing a $600 per

unit cost reduction in the redesign.

. Introduced new refrigerants into the production lines replacing older

refrigerants and arranged for the staff to receive certification in

using the recovery systems.

. Designed ventless hood and interface to a Combi oven upon which a

patent was issued.

. Designed a pass-through 2 tier heated open deli for use in supermarkets

and convenience stores.

. Developed new controls with the on-staff electronics engineers

providing Alto-Shaam with state of the art proprietary controls.

. Traveled to Hong Kong to help trouble-shoot and resolve one customer's

problems at 3 locations.

ZERO ZONE REFRIGERATOR MANUFACTURING CO. - Genesee, Wisconsin 1987 to

1992
