EXPERIENCE
Credit Suisse, Research Triangle Park, NC 2006 - 2010
Technical AVP
. Maintained and developed software for a Finacle Treasury, fixed income,
front office system for an investment bank.
. Developed in Perl, Shell, and Oracle in a SUN/Solaris environment.
TEK Systems, Research Triangle Park, NC 2006
Software Developer
. Enhanced the Clearcase library tools for Cisco Systems. OO Perl
(ObjectPerl), Shell, Oracle.
Professional Access, Research Triangle Park, NC 2005 - 2006
Software Developer
Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Navigator, KSH, Perl, VSS, TWS, C#.
. Developed new and evolutionary software for the Sales Force Solutions
Delivery division of Glaxo SmithKline.
. Developed new and updated TWS schedules and jobs, and supporting
software.
Surety Systems, Research Triangle Park, NC 2004
Consultant
. Worked in Perl and Sybase, maintaining and developing software for
trading data management and broker compensation for Goldman Sachs.
. Sybase SQL was performed both as embedded/dynamic SQL in Perl, and as
stored procedures.
. Perl programs captured transaction data, and populated tables, verified
consistency of data between tables, and created reports showing
consistency anomalies.
Professional Access, Research Triangle Park, NC 2002 - 2004
Consultant
. Provided senior level consulting expertise for Glaxo SmithKline,
converting an Appworx work flow management system to a TWS (Tivoli
Workload Scheduler - Maestro) system for some 16 departments.
. Wrote conversion automation software in OO Perl (ObjectPerl).
. Created new schedules and jobs.
. Managed the TWS test environment.
. Tested and verified operation of new and converted schedules and jobs.
. Trained staff in TWS development.
. Developed conversion and testing tools in Perl, shell, Pro*C, and SQL
(Oracle).
Nortel Networks, Research Triangle Park, NC 1980 - 2002
Systems Engineer
Implemented new and innovative products, reduced development risk, saved
maintenance expenses, improved customer satisfaction, and enhanced product
quality. Some of the accomplishments were to...
. Created network management tools using JAVA, JSP, SQL, PERL, AWK, HTML,
CGI and SHELL; to supplement the network monitoring capabilities of
existing operation support systems (OSSs for network management),
reducing the response times to a set of critical network issues.
. Produced custom, web accessible reports using PERL, SHELL, AWK, HTML, and
SQL (Oracle and Informix); giving summarized network status information
that enhanced customer satisfaction, and enabled in-house analysis staff
to pro-actively acquire large volumes of complex data to detect trends in
network performance.
Eric Beckman - *********@*****.*** PAGE THREE
. Principle designer and developer for state-of-the art network management
systems. Designs included:
- The LRS100, loop reporting system. The second UNIX based network
management system in NORTEL, (BSD UNIX on DEC), and one of the first
network management systems built with UNIX in the industry.
- The DFMS, facility management system. The first network management
system in NORTEL, and one of the first in industry to utilize UNIX
(SUN-OS/Solaris), a distributed client-server architecture (SUN and
DEC), graphical terminals (SUN), and a relational database (Sybase).
- The VISION, SS7 management system. The first network management system
in NORTEL, and one of the first in the industry, to be designed with
ground-up object oriented techniques (C++, SmallTalk, CRC cards), and
incorporating an object oriented database (Gemstone).
. Reduced development risk through acquisition and use of a function point
tool, to more accurately do early project estimation of system
development.
. Maintained several network management software products. On call 24x7
for the Network Management Center.
. Managed, installed, and enhanced many UNIX systems, databases, and
network management systems; providing a high level of service and
availability.
. Reduced performance related system design issues by benchmarking and
administering relational and non-relational databases, and computer
systems; and determining their performance when exercised with loads
emulating the target application.
. Developed models of network structures giving clear provisioning
guidelines to retain satisfactory throughput performance.
