Recent Accomplishments
As Chief Executive Officer for Community Partnership for Children, I was
responsible for over 1,200 children in the Child Welfare System for
Volusia, Flagler and Putnam counties. I had 170 employees, 3 office
locations, an operational budget over $27 million and a Board of Directors
that fluctuated between 9 and 13 members. Successfully implemented an
aggressive 9 month training program for case management line staff,
redesigned operational structure to meet geographic needs and began joint
effort with local Department of Children and Families office to redesign
the Child Welfare System focusing on leaving families intact but safe.
As the Senior Vice President/CFO for Community Partnership for Children, I
lead a staff of 9 providing Financial Management, Human Resources, MIS and
General Services support to 170 employees. Refocused Human Resources
efforts to ensure consistency in applying policies and procedures to all
employees. Successful migration of e-mail system from subcontracted
provider to in-house operation. Guided general Services effort to close 2
locations and migrate staff back into Beach Street Office. For FY ending
June 30, 2008 Community Partnership for Children moved into the Black for
the first time in its history. Worked extensively with Senior Vice
President for Operations to coordinate operational needs versus a budget
reduction of over $1 million. We have successfully reduced case management
staff by 16 positions while reducing our client count and maintaining an
average caseload size of 17 children per case manager.
As CFO for Community Partnership for Children, built the Financial
Management team from the ground up upon arrival in 2005. Inherited a
$250,000 deficit and an outsourced Accounting department. Successfully
balanced the budget and moved accounting function in-house during FY
2005/2006. Worked for 9 months during FY 2007/2008 in West Palm Beach
mentoring a new CFO to the Community Based Care business all while re-
building their financial management structure while continuing operations.
As CFO for Community Based Care of Seminole, worked with 8 others to bring
a new company from paper to reality. Developed all financial policies and
procedures, procured all contracts, established banking and auditing
relationships and worked with DCF staff that were new to Community Based
Care. Provided technical support to other CBC CFO's that were also involved
in new startup ventures but lacked CBC or DCF experience. To this day, CBC
of Seminole is one of the soundest financial organizations in the business.
