CASA Social Work Project for Libr298, SJSU, Spring 2011
The Institute for Collaborative Response (ICR) is a new extracurricular program offered through
the Dean's office of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA). I helped develop an
annotated resource list to supplement a special workshop module on understanding US court systems,
and collaboration between courts, related to family violence. I also worked collaboratively with a small
team, including students from Social Work and Justice Studies, to develop the annotated list of resources
with links to appropriate web resources.
Personal Digital Curation Assignment for Libr259, SJSU, Fall 2010
Selected, managed, and ensured the sustainability of and access to a personal digital collection
for about a five-week period. I learned about Creating Applications, converting file formats,
creating ownership/copyright information via creativecommons.org, calculating secure
checksums for documents.
History Blogs/Papers: Manuscript Study, Printed Book Study, and Library Research
Project, SJSU, Spring 2010
Wrote three blogs/major papers pertaining to: a medieval/Renaissance era manuscript, a
printed book from the nineteenth century and a library which was founded prior to 1920. I
brushed up on my history for my Libr280 projects and also honed my skills as an archivist.

Prepared two 12-minute presentations to a group of approximately 12 (students and professors)
through Elluminate. Presented Powerpoint slides with visuals and text.
Quatrefoil Library Strategic Plan for Libr204, SJSU, Fall 2009
Created a model strategic plan for the years 2010-2015 for the Quatrefoil Library (which holds
GLBTQ materials) in St. Paul, MN. I learned how to work effectively with a team while separated
by time/space constraints and learned how to take on a managerial role.

Processing 1,200 linear feet of a mixed materials collection for MALDEF (Mexican American
League of Defense and Education) organization, creating EAD finding aid(s) using Archivists
Toolkit; assisting with ultimate long term preservation in SDR (Stanford Preservation
Repository).
College Intern-Business Analyst, Cisco Systems, Milpitas, CA, Jul’ 10-Dec 23,’ 10,
Temporary Internship.
Reviewed internal documents, summarized them in designated website, created meta-tags,
categorized information, took notes during team meetings, oral presentation to Market
Intelligence team and product managers within Cisco introducing the market intelligence
website, organized company wiki, transferred documents onto a platform entitled EDM
(Enterprise Document Management system), updated URLs, participated in meetings via
WebEx, assisted in updating Market Intelligence website on a monthly basis, crafted a script for
a Video on Demand-Market Research Online Communities, presented information via
WebEx, designated deadlines to other employees.

Worked in Special Collections to assist patrons (researchers/visitors) to pull books for patrons,
answered research questions, helped them make copies/scanned images, and helped navigate
through our Online Archives of California database as well as the San Jose Public Library
catalog. Accurately processed invoices and loans through Filemaker Pro Preserve archives
(film, electronic, paper, maps, etc.), HTML/EAD encoding, digitizing cassette tapes, transcription
(learned how to be an efficient and quick transcriber), shelf-reading.
