My primary duties while currently employed at Hope Network including the following but are
not limited to: helping individuals in the community with developmental disabilities achieve
higher levels of independence through teaching them different skills. I teach communication
skills, vocational skills, independent living skills, sign language, sensory stimulation, one on one
community integration, job coaching etc. I also work one on one with at risk youth and help
them obtain employment through various vocational trainings and tutoring. I’ve been trained in
various departments within the company, this including working closely with our corporate
office in Grand Rapids. I filled in for our site supervisor for 3 months and worked directly with
corporate and my direct supervisor handling site contracts, billings, scheduling, maintaining
community relations and handling human resource issues/complaints.

I managed the care of an elderly couple in their home for the past several years. I attended to the
nursing responsibilities required for their daily care which included transportation to medical
appointments, housekeeping duties and other personal agendas. They both have recently passed
away.

I worked on the mid-night shift with a team of other CNA’s. I was responsible for
providing direct patient care on 12-16 hour shifts. I was in charge of taking patients vital signs;
light cleaning duties, keep record of their care, collect specimens for tests and so on. I also
worked as a union representative with SEIU negotiating our contracts and supporting other
employees in problematic situations. The facility eventually closed down due to lack of census
and funding.
