Experience
JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING PUNE NOV’12 - JUN’13
• Developed an Automated Regression Tool for selecting regression models based on the data distribution.
• The model was developed in R using the nuclear explosion survivors’ dataset.
SUMMER INTERN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF ESPIRTO SANTO JUN’11 - AUG’11
• Developed a Color-Mixture based Traffic Sign Recognition System using German Traffic Sign Recognition Data.
• The system was trained for color mixtures present on signs and implemented in C using OpenCV.
Education
• SUNY, Buffalo - M.S. Computer Science & Engineering, GPA : 3.8/4.0 Aug’13 - Dec’14
• IIITDM, Jabalpur - B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering, CPI : 9.1/10.0 Aug’08 - May’12
Languages & Technologies
• Java, C, R, Matlab, Hadoop, Android, Solr, Lucene
• Eclipse, Weka, Latex, MySQL, Oracle, Windows, Unix, Mac
Academic Projects1
• Data Warehouse/OLAP System (Oracle, Java, JSP): Developed Biomedical data warehouse on BioStorm
schema, with standard OLAP and Statistical operations. Supported Knowledge Discovery using the statistical
operations to classify patients based on informative genes.
• Clustering Algorithms (Java, Weka): Objective was to cluster genes exhibiting similar expression profiles,
by implementing K-Means, Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering with Single Link (Min), DBScan and Mixture
Models. Provided Cluster Validation using Jaccard Coefficient, Rand Index, Silhouette Coefficient &
Correlation. Performed Cluster Visualization using Principal Component Analysis.
• Retrieval, Storage & Analysis of Big Data in MapReduce Framework (Hadoop, R): Performed
sentiment analysis on tweets, (~2GB) collected from Twitter using twitter4j API. Implemented K-Means
clustering on twitter users for classification and parallel shortest path algorithm on graph data.
• Simple Dynamo (Java, Android): A micro implementation of Amazon’s Dynamo, <key, value> storage
system using the concepts of partitioning, replication and failure handling for a five node system.
• Simple Distributed Hash Table (Java, Android): Developed a <key, value> storage system based on the
research paper, “Chord”. Used SHA to map the given <key, value> pairs on a maximum of five AVDs.
• Totally and Causally Ordered Group Messenger (Java, Android): An android app was developed to
multicast messages in a group of five AVDs preserving total and causal order, using Sequencer Algorithm.
• News Indexer and Searcher (Java): Built on Reuters News corpus by implementing document parser, index
writer, query parser. Used VSM and BM-25 Okapi scoring models for document retrieval.
• Ad Serving (Solr, SolrJ, Java, JSF): Built a search engine for serving News and relevant Ads with an objective
to display ads that maximize ROI. System incorporated Solr features to develop an intuitive UI.
• Integration of Region Growing & Edge Detection (Matlab): Implemented research paper, “Segmentation
of Magnetic Resonance Brain Image: Integrating Region Growing and Edge Growing”, on MRI scans of brain.
• Handwritten Digits Classification on MNSIT Dataset (Matlab): Performed classification of handwritten
digits by implementing Artificial Neural Network, K-Nearest Neighbor, Logistic Regression and SVM Toolbox.
• Exploratory Data Analysis (Rstudio, R): Discovered trends and patterns of crime using on US Crime data.
Further made an attempt to analyze the causes of the discoveries and anomalies present in the crime statistics.
Awards & Achievements
• Director’s Gold Medal, for Best All Round Performance in undergraduate class of 2012 at IIITDM Jabalpur.
• Certificate of Academic Excellence, in undergraduate class of IIITDM Jabalpur for 2o09, 2010 & 2011.
• Assistant Coordinator, Counseling Services at IIITDM Jabalpur for the years 2010 & 2011.
