-Observe patients and communicate significant findings or changes in
patients' status to attending surgeon and initiate appropriate treatments
when needed.
-Review Laboratory, Radiology, and other patient testing results. Be aware
of diagnostic test reports that require prompt medical
intervention. Communicate directly with attending surgeons for
interventions not covered by standing orders.
-Write progress notes indicating patient status changes, treatment
adjustment, significant lab or image test results, and procedures performed
on patients' medical record in a timely manner.
-Assist in pre operation preparation of patient including medical consult
if needed. Assist in post operation patient care (including PACU) such as
post-op orders, wound care, and dressing change as indicated.
-Provide continuity of care for patients. Provide patient education.
Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment
instructions.
-Dictate discharge summaries, write prescriptions, explain discharge
instructions, and confirm follow-up appointments.
