Objective
I am currently attending school with the goal to become a registered nurse. I have always wanted
a career in which I have the opportunity to help people, and I believe nursing will give me that
opportunity. I hope to someday join a medical mission and provide care to the underprivileged in
third world countries.
Summary
I am currently working as a certified nursing assistant at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab in
Fort Collins, Colorado. My job involves assisting residents with everyday tasks, as well as
working with nurses, physical therapists, and doctors to provide the best and most appropriate
care for each resident. On a daily basis I dress, feed, bathe, and provide all around care and
companionship to my residents. I also work to notify the nurses, doctors, and therapists of
changes in the residents behavior or physical decline. I enjoy being able to assist residents in
their day-to-day needs and provide companionship. I take great pride in my work, and nothing
satisfies me more than to know that I helped someone in need.
Specific Skills Area
While working as a certified nursing assistant for the past three years I have learned how to
communicate effectively with my coworkers, superiors, and patients. Everyday I take vital signs
of all my residents. I am excellent at taking manual blood pressures and pulses, as well as
tympanic, oral, and axillary temperatures. Once a week I weigh my residents, and for every new
admission I get their height and orthostatic vital signs. I have experience with wound care and
am proficient in the use of splints and braces. I chart on paper and in the computer on a daily
basis. I am proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and most other programs. My typing
speed in 35wpm. I have just completed the Front Range Community College Phlebotomy
program. I am proficient in drawing blood, performing finger and heal sticks, and collecting and
testing urine specimens.
