A proven operations turnaround specialist, who has made poorly functioning
manufacturing plants effective and profitable through the use of techniques
such as 5-S, and Lean Manufacturing. Strong team building, leadership and
problem solving skills. Exceptional track record in innovating production
systems that maximize current product quality, new product performance, and
convert mature underperforming product lines into strong and successfully
competitors.
. Spearheaded equipment design improvements at Reichel, leading to customer
doubling purchases to $7M.
. Thoroughly re-worked package structure at PABCO, reversing declining
sales.
. Replaced shingle raw material at GAF, vastly reducing product cost and
increasing quality.
. Developed new product measuring system for Reichel, minimizing waste and
increasing batch consistency.
Special Skills: Designing and producing cost-effective, high performance
products... Working well with employees at all levels... Building positive,
growing customer relationships... Maintaining currency with production,
logistics and inventory technology... Engineering plant turnarounds via
operator involvement and SPC techniques.
BS, Engineering Management, University of Missouri at Rolla. APICS / CPIM
certified. MRP trained.
Selected Achievements
Spearheaded equipment design improvements at Reichel, leading to customer
doubling purchases to $7M. Customer needed a new roofing laminator that
cost $3.5M, but did not like Reichel's design. Revamped laminator's
structure, increasing its productivity and reducing number of operators
needed to run it. Sold unit along with accessories and materials to
customer. Established new design as industry gold standard.
Thoroughly re-worked package wrapper at PABCO, reversing declining sales.
Roofing shingle sales were declining 5-7% annually because poorly designed
outer packaging detracted from product quality appearance. Redesigned
package manufacturing, including purchasing better line equipment. Year one
sales increased 2%.
Replaced shingle raw material at GAF, vastly reducing product cost and
increasing quality. Displaced talc with new, heavier, and less expensive
sand that removed much of the dust and posed less health risk for workers.
Formulated better product that eliminated environmental risk in the plant
and cost substantially less to produce.
Developed new product measuring system for Reichel, minimizing waste and
increasing batch consistency. System for measuring roof shingle cut worked
poorly, resulting in large amounts of scrap. Replaced steel/chromed
measuring surface with polyurethaned rubber covering, eliminating cut
slippage and maintaining consistent batch-to-batch shingle length. Solution
was so effective, it was incorporated on all new and upgraded equipment.
