accomplishments include:
Performance Management
. Developed, implemented and administered a behaviorally-based performance
management process across the entire health system which included
developmental, goal oriented and incentive aspects. Trained managers in
the proper use of the system and conducted meetings with employees to
communicate the changes.
. Designed and implemented employee and leadership standards for new
performance management system.
. Served as "Champion" of all "Journey to Excellence" (a Total Quality
Initiative) activities with responsibilities for performance management,
leadership development, training and development, rewards and
recognition, and staffing.
Recruitment and Retention
. Reduced turnover from18% to 12% through a variety of implemented programs
i.e. leadership development, improved selection process for new hires,
onboarding, etc.
. Organized hospital portion of Allied Health Program with Chichester
Senior High School and Delaware County Community College. This was
expanded to include Penncrest High School. Effort raised awareness of
Riddle in the community and stimulated interest in health care careers.
It also served as a basis for recruiting staff.
. Created scholarship programs to encourage employees and external recruits
to explore careers in laboratories.
Employee Relations
. Reduced exposure to lawsuits and investigations through the development
and implementation of an HR Policy and Procedure Manual and Employee
Handbook. This was created for the hospital, a 400-unit retirement
center and a Substance Abuse Center.
. Maintained low levels of EEOC claims through proactive employee relations
tactics and vigilance in addressing issues.
. Coached managers regularly on how to address and mitigate employee
relations issues.
. Educated department managers on new programs to improve employee
relations and performance.
. Successfully deployed comprehensive strategies that resulted in the
hospital remaining union-free after two significant periods of union
interest.
Compensation and Benefits
. Developed and implemented a multi-tiered wage and benefit program for
various entities of the health system to maintain competitiveness, reduce
turnover and control costs.
. Saved $200K per year in FMLA costs by improving manager awareness and
tracking of FMLA submissions.
. Achieved significant cost savings (millions of dollars) and improved
employee satisfaction by completing a review and modification of the
employee benefits package.
