MASTERS RESEARCH
Bradley University Jan 2011 – Jul 2011
Design And Optimization Of Avionic Interface Unit(AIU) For A Transport Aircraft
• To design avionic interface unit with high strength and light weight for different vibration level for a transport
aircraft and to optimize the design by minimizing the number of components to reduce the cost of the unit and as
well as manufacturing time.
• Design involves selection of material, solid modeling and structural analysis.
• Given the aluminum material properties for the unit for the reason it has low density high thermal conductivity.
• Iterations are made by various types of manufacturing process by using CAD applications, solid works for solid
modeling.
EXPERIENCE
Industrial Assessment Center (IAC), Bradley University, Peoria IL Jan 2010 - Dec 2010
• Worked for IAC at Bradley University for one year as a part of my course work.
• Have an experience in the energy management, waste management, and cost reduction. Conducted two energy audits
as team leader, calculated the power and energy losses.
• Research existing designs to identify possible cost reduction areas and substitute these with efficient and cost-
effective solutions.
• Prepared IAC reports, detailed the analysis, findings, and recommendations for companies using Microsoft Word and
Excel.
EDUCATION
Master of Science in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Bradley University, Peoria, IL
Bachelor of Science in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
JNT University Hyderabad, Andhrapradesh, India.
PROJECTS
CAD PROJECTS, Bradley university.
• Created snake head, steering wheel, base feature using proE
• Created Motor assembly using ProE with blower, cover, lower housing, upper housing, motor, shaft, snap ring as
parts.
• Thermal analysis on plate with center hole using Pro/Mechanica.
• Performed the design of bracket using Pro/E and performed analysis using Pro/Mechanica
• Modeled parts, crank, case, wristpin, concord, piston and modeled piston-cylinder assembly using Solid works.
MADHUSUDHAN REDDY KALLAM
DESIGN OF SCREW CONVEYOR, Hyederabad, India. Dec 2008 – May 2009
• Calculated the performance of the centered screw conveyor and centerless screw conveyor at part loads and full
loads.
• Included the different types of material handling and basic methods in moving materials.
• Added modern manufacturing techniques to effectively utilize the material handling equipments.
Dual Purpose Cycle, Hyderabad, India. July 2008 – Dec2008
Concentrated on saving the natural resources and that innovative idea came from my mind when I was going through
everything.
Consists of a cycle which is rigidly fixed to ground with stand and is connected to a reciprocating pump.
The pump is operated by the cycle, thereby creating vacuum in the pump.
Water from underground water tank is pumped into the overhead water tank.
ProE Background:
• Created models using pick and place feature, datum plane features, rotating, drafting, and shelling.
• Used parent/child relationships, blends, sweep, relations which play key in the modeling of complex shapes
efficiently.
• Also used duplicating options like pattern and copy, layers and suppressions, created drawings of different and
assemblies.
• Performed accurate analysis on bolted joints and thermal analysis on fin and fin strip.
• In finite element analysis part worked on beam idealization by giving the mass and spring loads in the beam.
• Other operations performed are shell idealization, solid idealization, bending moment and natural frequency.
Catia v5:
• Effectively used tools like Corner, chamfer, trim, break, modifying dimensions, pad definition in modeling solid
models in sketcher work bench.
• Modeled part designs in part design work bench using tools fillet, chamfer, hole, patter, translating, rotating,
symmetry, mirror and scaling the finished part.
• Created complex parts swivel, top U-joint and bottom U-joint and made assemblies drawings using them.
Solid Works:
• Models using sketch commands, fillet commands, extrude cut command, hole wizard command.
• Part drawings using revolve boss/base command, holes using extrude cut command, series of holes using circular and
rectangular pattern, shell command.
• An orthographic view, auxiliary view, sectional view, dimension views using drawing commands, text using
annotation commands.
• Assemblies using mate, edit modify parts while in assembly, assign colors to parts in assembly, simulate motion
using linear and rotary motor.
