VMWare Administrator

• Managed VMWare infrastructure of over 90 ESX hosts that encompasses over 500 Virtual Machines

(VMs).

• Architected and deployed a VMWare infrastructure that was more efficient and a smaller footprint of ESXi

4.1 hosts and VCenter 4.1 which reduced hardware costs, rack space, electric, and heating

requirements.

• Designed and tested an offsite disaster recovery plan to restore VMWare infrastructure, Active Directory,

Exchange, and many other mission-critical services.

• Created a virtual test lab so technicians could test and evaluate new services, a migration plan, or for

proof of concept testing.

• Performed many Physical to Virtual conversions (P2V) to quickly reduce our physical server foot print

from 300 down to 85 which saved on hardware costs, but also was more efficient for backups, electrical,

and Datacenter cooling.

SAN/NAS Administrator

• Took ownership of enterprise level SAN and NAS environment which required deep involvement of

provisioning, zoning, masking, backups, and CIFS.

• Managed multiple Cisco 9505 Fiber Channel switches and HP Virtual Connect at the blade enclosures.

data consolidated to a central array which saved significant costs on hardware costs.

• Lead engineer to plan, configure, and deploy 72 Terabyte Compaq Storage Works Storage Area Network

(SAN) using two HSG80 controllers, Secure Path for redundancy, two Brocade fibre channel switches that

connect to dual Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) that directly support 12000 users

• Planned and executed migration strategies to move data for nineteen mission critical servers into the

Compaq SAN.

• Designed and presented many proposals to upper management regarding clustering, Exchange, SMS, and

SAN migrations right down to presenting storage and setting up LUNs.

• In addition to capacity planning and configuring SAN storage for optimization, developed backup strategy

using Veritas NetBackup and Compaq TL891 DLT tape libraries.

• Responsible for bringing IT services in-house with corporate

• Planned and setup server rooms for each site (A/C, server racks,

power, LAN/WAN connectivity for this multi-site infrastructure,

network and physical security, and VoIP phones) that housed more

than a 100 servers plus setup Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)

• In addition to routine maintenance and administration, added email

services by configuring OWA, IMAP4, and POP3 over SSL

within four months.

bandwidth to be proactive on potential issues and minimize cost.

• Incorporated redundant phone paths with Voice over IP, mail

routing and WAN links by using 168-bit 3DES VPN to link sites

over the Internet securely if frame relay went down, including

production equipment, to reduce the possibility of services being

down while minimizing costs.

• Responsible for planning and relocating offices in two separate

instances while minimizing customer impact.

• Responsible for administration, troubleshooting, and monitoring the

WAN Infrastructure spanning multiple sites including production

consisting of the following hardware: CISCO PIX515/525 firewalls
