EDUCATION
AUBURN UNIVERSITY – AUBURN, ALABAMA
Bachelors of Chemical Engineering
Graduation: May 09, 2011
EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE
(Note: I had to work full and part time hours to be able to attend college)
ACADEMY SPORTS & OUTDOORS
Cashier Team Lead (August 2009- Present) & Footwear Associate (August 2008- August 2009)
• Responsible for overseeing all frontend duties (money coming in and going out of the store) and 20 employees
• Assist cashiers with customer problems, and managers with their daily duties
• Assist, acknowledge, and help customers to select footwear and footwear accessories
• Train new associates and complete projects using teamwork
AUBURN UNIVERSITY
Senior Design Project (January 2011- May 2011)
• Design and optimize a grass-roots facility capable of converting clean methane to syngas via Fischer-Tropsch
Synthesis to produce liquid fuel fractions (i.e. LPG, naphtha and diesel)
• Create a process flowsheet using ASPEN Plus and develop an economic analysis on the overall facility
• Propose design to engineers using a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation and formal report (60+ pages)
Other Projects Worked while in College (August 2008- December 2010)
• Explore the relationship between friction losses and Reynolds number/relative roughness through different
schedule pipes, and compare experimental findings to accepted values for various flowrates
• Examine characteristic pump curves and confirm the affinity laws that relate pump speed to process conditions
using data collected via PumpLab 2.3 software
• Compare qualitative observations to quantitative data obtained by the Ergun and Wen & Yu equations for flow
through a fluidized bed by varying fluid velocity and measuring the corresponding pressure drop
• Tune a PI and PID controller with respect to a constant volume, stirred tank blending system which contained two
input streams and one exit stream using Matlab
• Economically analyze the aspects of producing dimethyl ether at a plant which consisted of research,
calculations, and economic predictions as well as sizing and pricing equipment based upon given data
• Examine a process for producing vinyl chloride and design a heat exchanger network where a comparison of the
actual versus theoretical implementation could be analyzed using ASPEN Plus software
• Examine a double-effect evaporator set-up designed to investigate the effect of steam pressure on the rate of
evaporation
