Dear Recruiter,
I would like to be considered for the Senior Design and Development
Engineer position that is listed on ResumeBook360. Since I have over two
decades of mechanical design engineering experience, I feel that I could
transition into a new machine or product design position quickly. Most
recently, I was employed at AAR Cargo Systems in Livonia, MI as a Senior
Mechanical Product Designer. I designed mechanical and electromechanical
aircraft cargo latches at AAR for over 20 years. Unfortunately, AAR moved
to North Carolina on December 31, 2010 and I cannot relocate.
I hired in at AAR as a junior designer and gradually gained the
knowledge and skills for the title that I now have. I was responsible for
the design of commercial and military aircraft cargo handling systems.
Components included lightweight, high strength latching mechanisms, both
mechanical and electromechanical (advanced drives and linkages).
Additionally, I was responsible for the design of test machines that
qualify these devices and any specialized tooling needed during
manufacturing. At AAR I utilized Catia V5 and AutoCAD 2000 to develop the
product's geometry. I am proficient in both. Additionally, I performed
hand calculations in statics and stress analysis to develop high strength
products at the lowest possible weight. As a former draftsman, I have a
good working knowledge of GD&T and excellent drawing and print reading
skills.
Previously, I was employed at Lomar Machine Co. as a mechanical
engineer. At Lomar I designed special machines including automatic
machines to produce and test automotive tubing products. I also worked at
Sparton Electronics performing product and tool design for anti-submarine
warfare sonobuoys.
My balanced combination of academics and seasoned experience results
in a high degree of design speed and accuracy. I feel this makes me well
suited for a cost conscious company. Please consider my resume. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jack K. Hickerson
