Comprehensive Logistics, Inc., Indianapolis, IN, December 2002 – August, 2005
Provided optimum customer service, on-time deliveries, and cost savings along with meeting and/or exceeding customer logistics expectations with rail/truck shipments, and managing an onsite staff.
Central Operations Manager
Great Rigs, Inc., Moody, AL 2000 - 2002
Implemented and managed a central dispatch system for 12 terminals, 130 company drivers, and 40 owner-operators nationwide. Responsibilities included negotiating with commercial carriers for cost effective load movements and annual budget planning. Measured equipment/loads utilization resulting in a 15% reduction of empty miles ($172,000 annual savings) (Closed by parent company)
Private Fleet Manager
Osram Sylvania Products, Inc., Indianapolis, IN 1997 - 2000
By implementing a central dispatch system and realignment of personnel in five locations I was able to realize an annual cost savings of $106,000. A $44,000 yearly savings was accomplished through improved trailer utilization, negotiating rates with equipment lease vendors and replacing short-term lease trailers with long term lease trailers. Negotiated annual driver labor rates with Transpersonnel. Approximately $100,000 in savings was generated by the elimination of empty truck lanes and with the utilization of employee input. Improved driver rapport by participating in quarterly safety meetings and seeking input for equipment specs
• Improved safe driver recognition by involving driver lease vendor and the equipment lease vendor
• Involved labor and equipment vendors in driver safety awards programs
General Manager Terminal Operations
PVS Nolwood Chemicals, Inc., Detroit, MI 1993 – 1997
I directed the Bulk Terminal operations including the private fleet, fleet maintenance, plant functions, employee safety training, and office personnel. By implementing a system to identify utilization costs that had a negative impact, the overall budget expense was reduced annually by $60,000. I helped to change a negative employee environment to a positive one by empowerment, an open-door management style, and employee communications meetings. I accompanied sales staff on visits to customer locations.
